My parents are cancelling sky due to the high costs and rubbish to watch and I don't fancy Setanta so I bought http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130147884053&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=003 the other day, got a decent feed from a chinese channel for the Manu- Tottenham game, put it on mute, loaded up five live for their commentary , watched and listened to the game for 99p.
No contracts lol and definatley no problems with the name.
You can get most, if not all, the Premier League matches live streamed on line if you know where to look.
There is no point in paying someone even 99p on ebay for info that's available free with a few seconds searching.0 -
I've posted this before but am still interested in finding out if anyone else bought the Tesco box and was immediately charged by Setanta for the first month in spite of the box saying including first month's viewing. I have given up trying to complain to Setanta and Tesco say they have had no other complaints about it and in any case that it is a supplier problem. Anyone with knowledge of the Sale of Goods act know if that is the case ie tesco sold me the box with one month free , are they responsible if I am then charged for the first month. I know it's only £9.99 but I don't see why I should accept it !0

Beware of Setanta. The £9.99 deal may sound attractive but if you already habe an annual contract from last year, look out.
Setanta, despite being advised that I no longer wanted the 12 month package, took £180 from my accoung 2 MONTHS BEFORE MY RENEWAL DATE.
This also happened to my friend.
I was given the run around when I attempted to get my money back and eventually e-mailed Raw Deal in the Sunday Post and The Judge in the Sunday Mail.
The Sunday Post is running a story on the underhand practices this Sunday.
I still do not have my money back.
Setanta have not shown themselves to be a company to be trusted.0 -

The end result was that they initially ignored my letter then disconnected (or whatever the correct term is) my card. Today though I received a letter promising a written response to my complaint in ten days. I'm not expecting to be happy with it.0 -

I went to the bank and got it back via the direct debit guarantee (thats a story in itself) then wrote to Setanta explaining what I'd done and complaining about their practice of deliberately keeping people on hold on revenue generating numbers. I think therein lies the key - they deliberately charge you for everything that you've already paid for in the knowledge that a) a percentage of people will either not notice or not get round to doing anything about it and b) those that do notice will end up spending at least half an hour on a revenue generating number.

I suggest that you contact a national newspaper. I was getting the run around from Setanta until I contacted the Sunday Post. A reporter took up the case and an article has appeared in today's Post. Setanta got the finger out when they realised that newspapers were involved.
Be sure to let whoever you speak to at Setanta know that you intend doing everything you can to get it in the press. E-mail Setanta with your complaint and copy in some newspapers. Setanta will see that you have done this.
This company thinks that it can treat customers with disdain and get away with it.0 -
I've had a terrible time with setanta. Here's the timeline -
Sat 4/8/07 - Phoned automated phone line to register and order card/box, etc (I gave personal details and cc number, etc)
Mon 6/8/07 - £10 taken from cc
Fri 10/8/07 - Phoned to enquire where card/box were and told that it had not been ordered (yet £10 activation fee taken from cc). Thus box ordered (again!). I was ensured that NO monthly subscription would be taken until I received my box and I was watching setanta.
Mon 13/8/07 - £19.98 for two months TV subscription taken of my cc (No viewing card or digibox received)
Tues 14/8/07 - Viewing card arrives but still no box to watch it on.
Fri 17/8/07 - Phoned to enquire about box and told it'd arrive on Mon 20/8
Wed 22/8/07 - Phoned to enquire about box (8 days of waiting) and told it'd arrive by day ten.
Fri 24/8/07 - 10 working days (14 days in total) expired phoned again anf told that NO box had been ordered or dispatched. Box ordered that day.
Tues 28/8 - No box received, phoned to cancel and told that although they took money off my cc straight away for NO service at all I'd need to write a letter to cancel my subscription. All I want is to watch football thus they offered to give me one month free subscription after my second month is up to compensate for the month I've paid for and not received anything from them.
Today (Sun 2/9/07) - still no box and no setanta.
IMHO their service is a joke and I would NOT recommend them to anyone.
I'd like some advice about who to contact about their shoddy service and the fact that they've taken money off my cc for NO service at all. I don't think they should be able to treat people like this and get away with it.
I'll bet I'm not alone!
Setanta - £9.99 a month (for !!!! all TV)
No contract
NO tv service at all!!!!!!!!!!!0
