This is simply a rip-off, and I'd be glad to hear of any other stories about this company, so perhaps we can all get together to do something to stop this malpractice.

we need a website / forum setup somewhere, I was stung getting the hattan fight (£15). I rang 1 month before end of free offer to cancel, which didn't get done (so it makes no difference if you can get thru) they then rang me trying to get me to sign for £9.99 (declined) so they've took £15. I've now cancelled direct debit, so I'm expexting the nasty leters.

Don't they say there isn't a contract though?

there's no contract, but other than cancel the DD, the is no way to cancel with them. then they threaten you with debt collection etc once you've canceled DD.

Guys just had to have my tuppence worth. I am always a stickler for customer service and good deals but I have Setanta via Virgin and finding the channels excellent. As a scotsman living south of the border it is great seeing Scottish footy again and keeping tabs on my fav team. For £8 a month I think it is a good deal and the quality of the programmes, whilst not quite upto Sky (yet) is acceptable and before anyone asks, "no" I am not on commision, lol.

Why would they be entitled to do that if you signed up without a contract?

If its a rolling 30-day contract then YES the CS/Legal Dept. needs to be sorted out and people need to contribute here about the <no contract> offerings.

I suspect they took this time to launch/advertise because the UK's DTTV platform (Digital TV through an ariel) is undergoing 'switchover' status whereby transmitters are gradually being switched to 'digital only' status.

When your transmitter is 'digital only' you get twice the 'Freeview' signal you get now making it much more accessible to people with 'old' ariels.

The point is... these people have obviously staked allot of 'Euros' on this getting the best money-making model (for them) including offshore call-centre farming... and a computer system that churns out court demands by the bucketload!

    The terms 'Ryan-airwaves' <via mumbai> spings to mind!

(we will stopping at Dublin where local transport is available to your destination..when available!!)

I may be missing something here, but surely if you are within your right to cancel and you cant get hold of them, all you have to do is cancel the direct debit. This will either:

    1) stop your services as you wanted or
    2) Have them on the phone to you a.s.a.p at which point you can tell them you tried to cancel to no avail so stopped paying.
Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:
  • But most importantly is the girl in the SETANTA, NOT BANANA advert Pauline from Big Brother!??! I think she is! She's even cooking on her Aussie barbie!
I'm getting older, and lifes getting harder!

More importantly, is there something subliminal going on with those pies?

My parents are cancelling sky due to the high costs and rubbish to watch and I don't fancy Setanta so I bought http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130147884053&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=003 the other day, got a decent feed from a chinese channel for the Manu- Tottenham game, put it on mute, loaded up five live for their commentary , watched and listened to the game for 99p.

No contracts lol and definatley no problems with the name.
 Smile, you only get one life, LIVE IT.
