With winter approaching, you are likely to go into a debit balance within a few months so my advice, for what it's worth, is to monitor your account balance as you approach your end of contract and make any additional payments required to give you a credit balance by the date you might want to switch again.
They have been promising to allow addition payments to be made online since I joined them but still not actually available yet. Hopefully you'll be able to pay online in a year's time.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

I was going to ask exactly that - so atm they don't allow additional payments? So only way is to tell them to increase DD?
What concerns me then is what someone else mentioned - getting a refund if I end up in credit!0 -

Reports on this thread suggest they are slow to repay credit balances at the end of contract. They are supposed to "use their best endeavours" to refund credits within 6 weeks of the switch date. I can only advise that you keep badgering them once you have switched away and after 6 weeks, if you haven't received your refund, start their formal complaints procedure. You will get it in the end - it's just a matter of time, unfortunately.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

My switch date is 30th of this month, surely the "cooling off period" would be from that date?
Although if I did stop it I think i may have to badger them to get the money back!0 -

I see - yes I got email from cheap energy club on 30th saying the switch is in progress so I guess that was the start?
Thanks for your help0 -
I'm shocked that MSE is now running a Big Switch promotion with Avro. The service is deplorable.
I joined in June. I am yet to receive a bill in spite of sending regular readings. I've been trying to get through to speak to someone without any luck. My emails have not been answered. So right now I don't have the most urgent of issues to sort out with them, but I fear for the day I do because it is IMPOSSIBLE to communicate with this company.Install 28th Nov 15, 3.3kW, (11x300LG), SolarEdge, SW. Have been quite happy with them.
At renewal they will only offer me the Simple & Autumn tariff, which means my energy will go up by £90 a year.
I did phone and ask about the Simple & MSE Collection (18 month fixed with £25 CB) But I was told that is not available for current customers.
Thinking about moving now. Anybody tried Pure Planet?
Yes my tariff is also ending soon at the end of October.:(
I'm quite happy with them:), and their 12 month fix renewal offer is quite good, but I too would like to fix for 18 months of the MSE new deal, which is slightly more than the Avro offer, but worth the extra £25 for an extra 6 month fix,0 -
I switched to Avro about a year ago and recently renewed with their Simple and Summerplan tariff almost as soon as I was able to. It looks like I was lucky as, when I did a comparison when they brought out the special MSE rate, all their current rates were more expensive.
I guess I must be fortunate in not having to contact them at all over the time I've been with them and I've had no issues with direct debits.0 -
If you try calling Avro today, 24rd Sep 2018, their phone lines appear to be down.
Pretty poor for a nationwide energy supplier0
