  • Been with them for about a year now but recently saw some better deals for my circumstances. Haven't had any problems until I decided to leave.
Twice now I have requested a transfer through two other companies and it has been objected to by Avro. The objection was based on money outstanding (I pay full amount through DD, always on time) and even after settling on the phone the objection was lifted after the deals had expired. Now just applied for my third attempt to transfer to yet another company. Fully expect it will be objected to but I'll keep you posted.
Quite tricky to deal with if you're flighty with rates.

Keep records of the tariffs you have missed out on and the objections raised. If there is another unwarranted objection then lodge a formal complaint and seek compensation for the additional cost caused by the delay.

If you already have the records from your previous attempts then you can still lodge a complaint and let the Ombudsman take a look at it after eight weeks if not resolved to your satisfaction.

Well, my switch (from Flow Energy) was scheduled for Sunday 20th May.....
I received the Welcome Pack, and Avro managed to take my first Direct Debit - so far, so good, I thought.
    Since then - nothing.
Two emails later, still nothing. I managed to get up to 37th in the telephone queue yesterday, before having to return to my paid employment....otherwise there would be nothing in my bank account to pay the next DD - which I suspect will happen just as efficiently as the first DD.
    So, not impressed so far.....
They are pretty slow to answer emails - it's usually about 4 working days when I have emailed them.

If you log in to your online account, it does keep you posted as to progress during the switching process.

I don't quite follow what has happened about your DDs but Avro start collecting them one month after you sign up and then on the same date in each subsequent month. This usually means that the first DD is collected before the switch has actually completed.

Sorry this was an error on my part.
  • I have been with Avro for just under a year now. I didn't encounter any problems with the switch and have had none throughout the year. I am just about to renew my contract with them as once again they are close to the top in competitive pricing.
I have a minor issue with 'MY ACCOUNT'. I think its bar charts could be better presented, but all in all I am happy staying with them.

I'm a few months in now and have not encountered any major problems so far. It's a bare-bones customer service at rock-bottom prices and I'm happy to pay less on this basis.

    Thanks for sharing. :)

I joined last night and the website is basic which i like.....i just want to to be able to submit readings and check my bills......why would anyone want to do antyhing else??

EDF were fine with me for years but no longer competitive and doing this i've pretty much kept my prices the same.

It's actually a pleasure looking at a basic no-frills website compared to offers, smart-meters and all other sorts of junk on there!!

ps-i'll do what i've always done and on or near the day of transfer i'll give my readings to both!!

There have been reports on here of meter readings / consumption data not being believed so I took the added precaution of sending meter snapshots by email.

I've always found that old chesnut strange logic from the Energy companies.......as if i care where my money goes......yes, i'd much rather EDF get the money than my new supplier as they've been very good to me.:rotfl:

Will all come out in the wash at the end of the day!!

morltepaworl, Yes the "Bar Charts". I have been with Avro for two years and about a year ago contacted Avro to see if they could sort out the Bar Charts. But they did not see anything was wrong, just stated that they ran on a month by month basis whereas by bills are produced on the 14th. I even added up the bar figures for the year which were way out on my consumption but the person answering my query was clueless. But overall apart from not receiving an email when the bills are ready I cant complain.
