Received an email from Avro on 15th Dec saying that the switch was complete and they would commence supplying energy from the 19th, one day ahead of schedule. The email suggested I log into to my newly opened account and submit meter readings. I phoned to see if that should be that day or on the 19th and was advised that I it could be that day. This I did and was subsequently emailed three days later asking to provide updated readings which I also did. So all progressed on schedule. So far, so good. Thanks Avro.:TEast coast, lat 51.97. 8.26kw SSE, 23° pitch + 0.59kw WSW vertical. Nissan Leaf plus Zappi charger and 2 x ASHP's. Givenergy 8.2 & 9.5 kWh batts, 2 x 3 kW ac inverters. Indra V2H . Switched to AVRO after horrendous experience with British Gas. BG contrived to completely destroy my account keeping and used some accounting procedures and arithmetic that are not from this planet and were certainly not based on our usual base10.
Had a few small issues with AVRO's response but I believe they got swamped by very large numbers of users switching from the likes of BG; one of the downsides of collective switching. Since then have received excellent service from AVRO. They respond to emails, resolve issues quickly and their statements are to be admired. The statements are clear, concise and well presented. Let us hope this continues. Almost forgot, that they are good value for money on my current tarriff!

Please AVOID. Keep to a company you know and one that is trusted.
This is by far the WORST company in the world. A lot of fake reviews on here sadly trying to hide the negative ones. Their team is working hard to create fake profiles to increase their positive score. Please do not use.
My experience. I moved into my property. Previous occupants did not pay any bills. The bill were in her name. Avro energy blocked my move to British Gas and on enquiring I was told there was debt at the property. I have proved that we moved in on a date in November. I have a bill from then which I have paid yet told I am also liable for previous persons bill which I have not seen. Told by the rudest customer service person with no training or legal qualification that as debt is at property I have to pay as they are now seeking disconnection. Totally illegal to force someone else to pay another's bill. Legal advice being sought and next step is suing for extortion since I have no debt at Avro and am being held to ransom. Disgusting to threaten a family with disconnection at Christmas. PLEASE AVOID and sign up to a company with training for staff and one which knows the law and abides by common practices.
Sadly it is nearly 2 weeks and no contact from the cowards at Avro Energy so if you have a complaint they do not respond and will not help. NO customer service here.
I have taken legal advise and will be suing AVRO Energy for abuse, threats and extortion. I will be using the press as well to highlight our story.0 -
So Boeingboy of the 214 reviews can you point out the ones that you think are fake as this will help other people considering Avro?0

I've been an MSE forum user for over 5 years, longer than Avro Energy has been in business.
During that time I've made over 5500 posts, most of which were considered useful, and none of which was 'fake'.
Boeingboy however, joined today :cool:0 -
Make sure you don't name me in your "fake reviewer" list Boeingboy! I'm on no ones backhander list and speak it as I see it.
Maybe you think AVRO paid me to be scathing about BG too? I need no one to pay me for that .... they caused me headaches in nearly every month for 2 years.
Here's a classic today from BG. Two months after switching away from them, and several weeks after settling the final bills with them, a letter dropped through the letterbox today from BG. Briefly they said they have made a mistake with my payment plan and they are going to compensate me with £10 by cheque.
I was intrigued and rang them, after 20 minutes and much consulting with colleagues, they could not tell me what the mistake was they made, or why they were going to compensate me with £10. They do not think I owe any money or they owe me any money and they can't figure out what generated the letter. Absolute typical classic from BG!
Apart from a wry laugh at their expense, at least I should get £10 out of it ...... or will I? Maybe they made a mistake about making a mistake and that's the last I'll here of it
Back to AVRO .... still no complaints from me.0 -
Following advice from the Cheap Energy Club, I switched from British Gas to Avro in October 2017 dual fuel, monthly direct debit, and I have to say that the whole operation was textbook-perfect. Avro notified me of the sequence of events that would occur, and both Avro and BG did everything they should exactly when promised. I did my bit by providing meter readings when required, Avro started collecting their payments when they said they would, and BG refunded unused parts of my last DD payment as promised. Full marks to BG, Avro and the Club!0

My change over from B G went smoothly. It is so straightforward switching. Remember to send in your meter readings. I only had to call them to increase my direct debit and I waited about 13 mins to get through on the phone.
Very happy with Avro B G refunded the credit on my account very quickly.0 -
Mine didn't go smoothly - it took me time and effort to get things sorted out. I think I am about there now.
They did not switch on the day they said
They ignored my opening meter readings
They agreed estimated readings with previous supplier
They didn't produce a bill until prompted some weeks after it was due.
Also their website is basically functional, but a little lacking.
Presumably my different experience is because they realised I was a long term member here so they thought they would treat me worse than the new posters ;-)
When I have time I will be moving away.0 -
Recommend Avro - easy switch - easy website to use, prices seem very low on current tariff and hoping they will stay that way (18.9 standing charge per day, 12.385p/kwh electric, 2.888p/kwh gas)0
