I’m presently on Simple & Superfixed; based on my actual usage for the past 12 months I’ll pay £1082/year (£90.16/month)

My Simple & Superfixed tariff runs till Feb 2021.

Avro’s recently released Simple&Superglow tariff would cost me slightly more,...just £1.10/month extra. The leccy unit price has increased slightly but the gas unit  price is slightly lower.

The big question: Should I stick with  Simple & Superfixed @ £90/month fixed until Feb 2021 ?...or should I throw caution to the wind and grab Simple&Superglow  @ £91/month fixed until July 2021 ?

    Decisions, decisions!

P.S. as mentioned up-thread Simple & Superglow still isn’t displayed on CEC but it appears  on other (better and more accurate!) comparison sites. The CEC and Avro appear to have an uneasy relationship don’t they.

I chose to renew now (see above), as prices have crept up in recent weeks - if I'd have renewed in May, I'd be saving a few quid each month vs my previous tariff (simple and superflow).

I decided it was worth paying an extra £2 per month to switch now and lock in for another 12 months.

If the gas price is lower AND you heat the home and water with gas seems logical to switch for the Winter - economise on leccy to keep monthly outgoings down perhaps. I had a similar dilemma but the early termination fees squash any potential savings this Winter.

You’re probably right bd;...I do heat everything with gas,...and, if this July is anything to go by, it appears that winter has started early this year. :'(

I think I’ll flip to Simple&Superglow after my next meter readings submissions on Aug 10th. Makes things easier on my spreadsheet.

I do hope that AVRO's business model - zero leaving costs, competitive pricing and zero-cost renewal - is sustainable.
I renew each month, but am holding on Superfixed, for now.
Great to have all of the options.

"P.S. as mentioned up-thread Simple & Superglow still isn’t displayed on CEC but it appears on other (better and more accurate!) comparison sites. "

As an aside I would appreciate being brought up to date on what these sites are and how they compare. I have used MSE in the past pretty much by default, though I never take the claimed "savings" on any at face value, without running my own numbers first (they rarely agree)

My personal choice, purely for comparison purposes , is the Citizens Advice tool. Seems to list most of the available tariffs and is updated pretty quickly.
I plug the chosen tariff info into my own spreadsheets to work out true savings (as distinct from the OFGEM dictated figures !!) remembering to account for any early termination fees. Whilst my leccy usage varies little over the year, I make allowances for the majority of the gas to be used Nov. to April if I'm thinking of moving.
  • I want to switch from superfixed to superglow, can this be done online?
I`ve tried phoning but I get the "no agents are avilable" message  each time.
    TIA

Yes you can. Go to the Avro web page, but DO NOT login. Instead click Get A Quote. Once you put in your address and a couple of other details, it will tell you they already supply that address and take you to a login page. Login then and you will see the new quote to supply you. Weird, but it works!

I've noticed that recent updates to SLCs do not require suppliers to use the misleading pro-rata quotes basis which Ofgem used to prescribe.
Since the old system often exaggerated savings, however, I don't know whether suppliers are still using it.
