  • If that response is true you have to ask yourself the question as to how the other energy comparison sites are managing to successfully update their websites with new providers and new tariff changes when CEC can't or probably more correctly in this case just can't be bothered?
Don't forget that the MSE/CEC is a rebranding of MoneySupermarket's energy comparison site.

    Indeed;..

The MoneySupermarket energy tariff tables appear to be a mirror of the CEC tables (or is it the other way round!);...both devoid of up to date tariffs,...both selective in the tariffs that are listed,...both useless, imho.  :/

Hardly surprising as MoneySupermaket owns MSE.
Don't forget that with MSM you have to tick the box on the left that says "Show me widest range of tariffs".

Yes, I’m aware of that thanks, but I won’t be ticking that box again because it’s an energy comparison site that’s severely compromised and not worthy of another visit, imho.

Spot on and I wont be using CEC again or MSM, both fatally flawed IMO

I'm about to switch away from Avro (~ 27th Feb) but was pleasantly surprised this morning ,to find my Feb. statement on the portal. Since Avro know I'm leaving ,I was expecting various shenanigans like recalculating back to Dec. or somesuch!

Good thing is that the account is only £2.22 in credit :D  so I'll owe them ~ £40 when I switch. Next decision is should I leave the DD alive??

If you cancel your D/D before your final bill has been calculated (and paid) it can, I believe, cause complications with your switch to your new company.

You’re effectively trying to do a runner before paying up, so to speak, and Avro could, theoretically, kibosh your switch.

However, If you leave the D/D in place they may take another payment which presumably would put you in credit at the time of your move;...in which case you’ll need to wait until your final bill has been calculated. Any credit will/should then be refunded within 10 working days of your final bill.

I personally always leave my D/D running when I switch. But the choice is yours.

Just had a reply from CEC which explains why Avro's new Simple and SuperFixed tariff is not showing in CEC's comparison for existing Avro customers.

    Thanks for getting in touch.

At the moment, Avro hasn't made us aware of any tariffs available for existing customers to switch to through our comparison site.

It is possible that tariffs are available directly through Avro.

    I hope this helps clarify.

    Thanks

    MSE Nicole
I might be reading too much into it but reading between the lines and considering that other comparison sites are showing the new Simple and SuperFixed tariff I'm guessing that this may possibly be a direct consequence of and petty payback for the earlier non payment of cashback dispute which existed between CEC and Avro.

Previously I've only cancelled a DD when the supplier has actually failed and I'm being switched via the SOLR process. HOWEVER, some of these smaller suppliers (inc Avro) have been reported as very difficult to get credit balances back from lately(see the enormous number of customers of Together Energy currently chasing refunds). If I allow them to take the next DD ,they will owe me ~ £75, assuming the switches go ahead end of next week, so I may leave it until the switches are confirmed then cancel...…..or not   :/

From the date when your new company starts to actually supply gas/leccy you  enter a kind of financial limbo-land between the losing supplier and the gaining supplier. That state of limbo only ends when the losing supplier (in your case, Avro) issues your final bill...and you pay it off,...or you receive a credit refund, whichever is applicable.

I don’t know if unilaterally cancelling your Avro D/D early will cause problems,...but it may do.

However, “There’s many a slip twixt cup and lip” as they say. Good luck whatever you decide:smile:

  • I was with Avro for just 12 months. During that time I had one bill after sending an email request. As I had no idea of my current balance, I went to another supplier after the fixed deal expired. About 3 months with my new supplier I decided to request a closing statement from Avro only to discover I had over £200 due back to me in over payment. Whilst it was remiss of me not to chase this up earlier, I did assume (incorrectly) that they would automatically reimburse me if I was in credit.
This company has terrible customer communications. Regardless of how cheap a deal they quote, I would never go back.
I do a monthly meter reading with my current supplier and can get a monthly online statement. That should be standard.
