When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

            Hi everyone :hello:
Thanks for starting us off Ziggy
 Hope everyone is good today.
 Big happy birthday wishes DNMS!
 :bdaycake:
 Here's my listypops:
 Brekkie at home
 Find a packed lunch
 Finish hats for friends' kids
I sorted out car insurance :A Searched on the basis that I wanted to pay it annually and spoke to OH's parents to check I'm still a named driver on their car - that reduced my quote by £100! :T And the motivation not to go for the monthly deal. Made a list of all the things I want to be able to pay in full every year and I'm hoping I can stick to it and start putting away each month.
 Happy Wednesday everyone!0

Morning guys & thanks for starting the thread Ziggy. How is everything with your family? Hope things are as good as can be expected x
La E nice one on the £100 saving & being able to pay for ins in one go. I wrote out a long reply to you the other day and then deleted it as didn't want to be on a downer! I think in reality if you end up paying monthly you get in the trap because to then save for the following year you are effectively paying twice in the first year. Really need to think about my ins due in Feb as I have paid for it in one go since getting df is 2010 but finances not good this year!
Thanks for the birthday wishes you guys x
Work went well yesterday, but bar work is hard work! (physically - I'm used to office work and it being mentally draining and a lot to do, which bar work is something completely different!)
Feeling a bit poorly this morning as have come down with dgd's cold. What with that and being the birthday girl not expecting big small things today
 Plans include:
 * nipping to aldi's and getting a few bits of shopping. Want to make dauphinoise potatoes, pan fried chicken in mushroom sauce and french bean salad
 * write a list of bits we need
 * get chicken out of freezer
 * other than groceries no spends
 * submit meter readings
 * do a load of washing
 * quick vacuum & polish through the house
Other than that just getting through the day and going to bed early I think!DF as at 30/12/16

            Morning all
I know it's not late, but it's late for me on a school day. Got up early this morning and saw a fantastic b0dy sh0p offer on Martin's email. My bestie loves body shop stuff so I had to go for it and order immediately... I will break the parcel up into bits and bobs for other people but it seems like a very good deal to me.
Anyway, I am at school at the moment - 'supervising' a mock exam. We don't invigilate any more but there needs to be a subject expert on hand - just in case. I've brought my planning and marking down to do once I've checked in here.
Today's list: check banking and figure out why YNAB and my account are not balancing again  check banking and figure out why YNAB and my account are not balancing again  nsd apart from bargain Christmas shop this morning nsd apart from bargain Christmas shop this morning look into zooplus for cheap cat food as I seem to be spending a fortune on food for some reason look into zooplus for cheap cat food as I seem to be spending a fortune on food for some reason need to get some stuffing for knitted tree ornaments.
