Weel, I got a littel gardenign done, repotted and split the primulas I've been meanign to for weeks. trimmed the rosebush, picked a few balckberries and fed the weeping cherry tree. then my foot said it had had enough, so I went inside and had a blackberry smoothie and toast.
Oh got some apple juice so I'm making balckberry + apple lollies, then I'm not sure what i want to do............0 -
I'm feeling rather stupidly proud of myself.
Having just made myself a snack for dinner I automatically reached out for the kitchen roll to pull off a piece and wipe up the crumbs. The kitchen roll would've followed the crumbs into the bin. Instead, I had a lightbulb moment and remembered I'd started to save old pillow cases. So off I toddled and cut one into 4 cloths. I used one to wipe up the crumbs and instead of chucking it in the bin with the crumbs, I put it to one side for the next time. I remember my mom always tearing sheets, clothes and pillow cases into rags and cloths. I felt dead posh when we bought our first yellow duster because I'd never known one, and our first dishcloth ... and we never had kitchen roll either. Now I feel proud as punch for doing what my mom always used to do.

Hi and welcome to tillyp
Well after a very early start now waning a little.MIL just been to lunch so I wonder if anyone will notice me in the teapot like dormouse for a few minutes.
Special thoughts to Catowen and hope by now you are feeling a little brighter. My friend who was recently widowed went to a counsellor and he/she suggested writing a letter to anyone that was making her feel sad or angry even her deceased husband. The point was not to post the letters but just get out how she was feeling.
She says it has helped her a lot so I think that is a bit like it when you can post on here and share how you are feeling but the big bonus with here is that generous hearted people respond
Right off for that zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
Hi Everyone
Hope you folk down south are enjoying your bank holiday weekend. Most of us poor mortals up here in Scotland have work tomorrow.
Visited Mum in hospital on Friday and she looked the picture of health! She has a heart monitor slung round her neck and is being monitored all the time. She is in Perth Royal until she can go along to Ninewells in Dundee for a pacemaker. Just waiting for a bed. Hopefully once the procedure done things should improve. Just glad they have now finally got to the bottom of things as she has been a bit ropey over the last couple of weeks.
Just need to persuade my brother in America that it would be a good idea to come over to visit his 82 year old Mum - he hasn't been back since he went out there about 10 years ago.
Catowen - so sorry to read your post. You sound so down Sweatheart. We are all here to support you. Feel free to get things off your chest whenever you want.
Need to dash now as we are expecting folk to call in

Not sure what I am doing these days, seem to be having more 'senior moments' than I would like...called DD4 at 7.45 this am telling her that she would be late for work...only then realised that it was Sunday and that she doesn't go to work on Sundays!
Catowen...so sorry to hear that you are feeling down and used....one of my SIL's frequently says to me that I am so strong that I don't feel things as much as she does as she is so sensitive....as sensitive as concrete IMO but she has the ability to turn on the waterworks when anything goes wrong so she gets so much sympathy...I had to train myself to the stiff upper lip approach...never saw the point in whinging if what a child needed was a couple of stitches in a cut! Dannahaz was so right in her estimation of why people misunderstand our feelings, also yes, we should say but not always easy is it.
Grannybroon, good to hear that your mother is so much better...she was probably very scared, hope that all goes to plan.
Many continental countries don't allow clothes to be hung out to dry on Sunday...breaking the Sabbath, and are much more rigid about Sabbath observances, shops don't open so you get it on Saturday (morning only sometimes ) or do without...Ireland was like this up to about 15/20 years ago, now most shops are open 7 days, and supermarkets are open 24/7...our local Tesco for example, which is bad for reductions.
DD4 is sorting shelves for her room, got some from a cousin who made them with timber he got from my brother when he changes wardrobes some years ago...how's that for recycling? I acquired a cabinet which I think I can turn into a dresser for the kitchen and get rid of the dreadful and space wasting unit I had to have when the kitchen was remodelled 12 years ago...time for another remodel I think but don't have the money atm so this will help me see if I can work with my current favourite layout idea.
Made pancakes, bacon, and caramellised bananas for breakfast and have the bm on now to make pizzas for dinner...breakfast was so late that we are only have two meals to-day.
Off now to watch a football match on tv...Gaelic football, Kerry ( where OH comes from) are playing Dublin, which is the next county to us and where I was born...so I will have to keep my mouth shut...d'ya know how hard that is for me???
Booked a week in Sardinia last night, 1st-8th October, was planning on going third week in September before DD4 goes back to college, but would have cost me more than twice as much as October, so October it is.
Have a happy bank holiday to-morrow...we have another one on the last Monday in October.

I am cooking the liver and bacon we should have had yesterday for supper...its a lovely day, not as hot as yesterday, just a nice breeze blowing in......................we will have to have a trip to the lottie and see if things need watering...........we have just 2 days before we go off on our little jolly...............rock on............
Not much else to report, slept quite well last night even though it was very warm until around 6am when it went quite chilly, had to pull the quilt up a bit sharpish...........
