Morning all   and happy bank holiday sunday
Catowen - Really sorry to hear you are feeling down you are always so upbeat and helpful on here - maybe its time to be more helpful to yourself and say No sometimes. Good friends will understand and want to help you for change.
Juliapen and ellie292 - Warrington is getting quite a good following on here now! thanks for the Indian recommendation sounds great. Creamfields was unfortuantley not too loud which meant I couldnt hear it for free:o
Have fun in St Annes Julia its one of my favourite places as we used to holiday there every year when I was a kid
X_raphael_xx - once you have made your own chilli you will never go back to jars/packets. I was the same as you not long ago and you will be amazed how much nicer the real thing is
Mrs Micawaber - going to have a go at your recipe this week for the next parcel (best make two lots - one for me too - for testing purposes of course:rotfl: )by the way why cant you hang washing out on a Sunday thats my main day for washing I would be in trouble!
Packed up my first parcel last night - by the time I had made sure it was as protected as possible it ended up weighing a ton so now very glad the post office are doing it for free!!
Weather cant quite decide whats its doing yet blue sky one minute cloud the next so I suspect a decision to have a bbq may be a dangerous one. Instead I will finish the wallpapering today and catch up with Britains Next Top Model which I sadly love:o
I am cooking late lunch/dinner for my neighbour/mate later and havent yet decided what to do - mmm maybe a trip to the recipe thread again is in order.
Anyway hope you all have fun today and enjoy our last bank holiday before Christmas:eek:

Hi there Nelski
we are in Germany and you arent supposed to hang out washing or mow your lawns on a Sunday....same as you arent supposed to wash your car on the street, but take it either to a car wash or to the special "wash down" areas..now that i understand - sort of - they dont want all sorts of chemicals entering the water system... but the washing/mowing thing i guess they are still keeping Sunday as a day of rest...There is virtually nothing open at all on Sundays
....
I can understand you needing to check out the cake, well we wouldnt want your brother being poorely would we ?;)
I know the posty are allowing free postage, but just a thought... have they lifted the weight restriction on parcels? only i know when i was sending to Iraq they had a set limit..i cant remember what it was now, but i lost count of the number of times i had to keep taking things out......hopefully you will be under-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
morning all
its cloudy and windy here but at least it was dry for our car boot, just one more to go before they stop for the winter, no idea where the summer has gone
nelski not sure why mrsmicawber cant hang out washing on a sunday but at one time, especially in the islands and west coast of scotland nothing would be done on a sunday, my pal in inverness wouldnt even take a bus home if her day off was a sunday
catowen big hugs to you
must go and put wm on while its still windy
hugs to all xx0 -
Morning All
Catowen sending you lots of ((((hugs)))) I think that the lack of good weather is really putting alot of people on a downer so do try to get outside if its a nice day even if its only sitting in the garden all afternoon.
Had a nice lie in this morning DH got up with the monster and I slept till 10.30. Going to my dads later on for a BBQ so I need to make some burgers and a bowl of coldslaw.
I also have a pile of ironing the size of Mount Everest so I need to crack on with that, the sun is shining so I'll washing the load of towels from yesterday
Tomorrow DH is going to help my dad with some jobs so I've just had the idea to take DD to the pinewoods thanks to ellie2919 so thanks for that DD loves going there.
Have a good day everyoneSorting my life out one day at a time0 -
Morning all!
<Hugs> to those having trouble sleeping, or feeling unwell.
<<catowen>>THank you for sharing how you're feeling. It's great that the anonimity of the internet lets you do that. I'm going to put my arm around your shoulder, as I share the following:
<<The trouble with being the one who is always upbeat and strong is that your friends genuinely have no idea how you are really feeling. It feels like they should know, they're your friends, after all. But the reality is, they don't. They only know what they see or what you tell them. And if you don't show them or tell them, how can they possibly know? They aren't psychic. It took me a long time to work this out myself.
When you're the strong one, people often miss the little signals that you send out asking for help. For example, it might take a lot of effort for you to confess that you aren't feeling great, or you had a bad night, or whatever. It's a big step for you to admit this and it's probably the equivalent of some other people bursting into tears in public. Because it's such a difficult step, it can be very disappointing when others don't pick up on it. Trouble is, they (whoever "they" are!) don't realise what a huge thing it is for you, so they don't react in the way you need them to.
Realising this made a big difference to me personally, and I learned to let people know what I need, in plain language ("I'm feeling really miserable tooday and I need a hug", "I'd really like to go into a cafe for a cup of tea instead of going to the pub for a drink"), much earlier on in a situation, before it becomes a big deal and full of negative emotions. I'm still learning, of course, but the more I do it, the easier it gets.
If you're usually the one who does the arranging then it's likely they've just got used to things being that way, and you can't really blame them for that. Maybe when you're not feeling so low, you could tell them a bit about how you feel. If you don't feel able to do that, then take a small step - for example, at the end of seeing them say (happily) "Must be your turn to organise the next night out?"
They probably think you're off out doing things with no time to see them. I bet they would be delighted to spend time with you. Why not give them a call to arrange something? >>
Well, I'm off to make coffee now. I slept reasnably well, but Izzy woke me up at about 5am, she had caught the mouse (the one that she let loose in the house yesterday) and was busy crunching it under my bed. There wasn't any point taking it off her at this stage, but the noise was horrible. I know it was a big mouse, but I couldn't believe how long it took her to finish it. Thank goodness for solid flooring.
I did the second coat of the bathroom ceiling yesterday, then spent ages clearing up. It looks lovely now, but it does make the grout look grubby. The cause of it all is that I used to alway bathe by candlelight...and the smoke got all over the tiles and ceiling. I tried oil "candles" which were slightly better, but still caused problems. When I washed the tiles, all the black carp got in the grout, and I can't get it out. I've tried numerous things, and I think the answer is to get one of those grout pens.
This afternoon I might go to Egham show...although I didn't feel very enthusiastic when I wrote that, so I probably won't. I also want to go t the Food Festival at the Farm Shop, but I might save that til tomorrow. Actually, I'm quite content doing nothing, but my DH is away stewarding at a folk festival (has done every year for the last 30+years, long before he met me) and he worries that I'm pining. He popped home this morning <STRIKE>to see me</STRIKE> to have a shower and some home made coffee, which was a bit of a result as I got him to clear up what was left of the mouse!
Well, I need to get on.
<<hugs>> to anyone else who would like one, have a great day!

Hugs Catowen - take care of yourself. You're no good to anyone else if you're not OK yourself (easy to say I know, harder to follow through.)
Just nipped on while DH and kids are off to collect my brother.
Have ironed mount everest this morning, and I think K2 is currently on the line/in the machine/in the pile on the floor waiting to go into the WM. Ho hum. Sure Sisyphus never had it this bad:D
Meatballs for dinner tonight.
also need to pop into town. DS need a pirate costume for wednesday. I think just some material to make a bandana and a waistcoat, a plastic sword and a painted on eyepatch will do him. The invite did say "pirate or princess" we have loads of princess costumes, but I don't think he'd be too chuffed to be dressed as snow white or belle :rotfl: I'd probably scar him for life,a nd be branded the cruelest mother in town. I reckon it would demonstrate his independence and help him stand up to people. What was the Johnny Cash song about the boy named Sue?:rotfl:
Take care all

Morning everyone. Haven’t been around much the last couple of days. I hurt my back on Wednesday and, although the pain has almost gone, it aches like mad when I sit for any length of time so it has really curtailed my computer time! It has also stopped me sleeping properly so, all in all, not a happy bunny. I have had to miss the gym – I haven’t been since Monday and have really missed it. I really hope I’m OK for Tuesday when it re-opens.
I haven’t been reading the threads either so I bet I’ve missed loads! Welcome to any newbies, happy birthdays and anniversaries to any I have missed an (((hugs))) to all those in need.
We spent yesterday afternoon at DS1’s where the children had great fun in the paddling pool – the weather was gorgeous – and DGD modelled her new school clothes. It’s her first day at school on 6th September; it seems like only yesterday it was her big brother’s first day. It made me feel quite emotional. DIL is dreading it because her last baby is growing up! It was a lovely afternoon and we came home laden with fresh fruit and veg from DS1’s garden. DH and I had planned on opening a couple of bottles of wine last night but I felt too tired and my back was aching so we decided on an early night but then I couldn’t sleep because (a) by back hurt and (b) DS2 and his GF were on a plane on their way to Majorca! Anyway, he texted just after midnight to say they had landed so I managed to drift off to sleep. They have found a bargain holiday - £700 for a fully inclusive week (all drinks and food, plus flights and hotel room) – so they we really pleased. GF starts her new teaching job on Monday week and she can’t wait.
DH is going back to France on Tuesday to do some work on our place and he’s also been asked to do some work.
I started this post early with the intention of being the first one on the thread but things got in the way! Have just had a quick flick through and want to send big (((hugs))) to CATOWEN :grouphug: :grouphug: I, too, feel like that at times and it’s horrible, isn’t it? I hope you start feeling better soon but you are allowed to feel down sometimes so please don’t beat yourself up.
Anyway, going to see if I can struggle down to the bottle bank so catch you all later.

Hi all
I've finally got hubby off the computer (the GP has started) so I can post at last.
It's lovely & sunny here, so there is washing on the line. I'll probably sit in the garden for a while too.
I had a chat with hubby this morning about sqaure foot gardening & he's agreed to build me a raised bed, that I can use for veggies. At the moment all the plants in out back garden are in containers as our estate was built on a railway storage yard, there is no soil to speak of, just stones & tarmac. We had topsoil put down to grow a lawn, but it was a very thin layer. I grow lavender in the front garden as it thrives in poor soil.
Roast chicken & roasties, stuffing & broccoli for tea, & then I'll make a chicken ham & mushroom pie for tomorrow, the rest of the chicken will be used to make Oven baked thai chicken & chicken soup.
Hope everyone has a good day
Hugs Hester

Afternoon ladies (and any gents)
Well so far today i've done....lets think about it....diddly squat!
Hubby is sat downstairs watching the newcastle match so i thought i'd come and see what other people were up to.
I dont have anything planned for today and think i'm just going to slob and enjoy the peace.
Ds1 has a slight case of sun stroke from yesterday and was up most of the night but thankfully now he is picking up.
I wrote down a recipe from here a couple of weeks ago for some cookies and really want to make them but sadly the motivation seems to be lacking.
