I'm referring to the red triangular sign that is attached to the streetlight just before the bump.

    Edit

It's difficult to see as your screenshot is a little fuzzy and can't be navigated as streetview can. It appears it's just before the white warning triangle painted on the bump.

I know. And it's actually after the bump, it's not obvious at this angle. It says "school". Now I know there's a school there.
  • I want longitude and latitude co-ordinates, a satellite image and how many clicks you were after you turned right.

    ....in a built up area
....you were going too fast too enable you to see the signs
    ....past parked cars
....you were going too fast to see a big lump in the road

.........and you want to know who to sue?

there is a sign on the corner outside the white shop, also there are white triangles painted on the hump, and if you got up to 30mph between the junction and the hump then you were driving too fast. Good luck with your compo claim.

To answer the thread title ... you complain to yourself for having such lack of attention and a careless attitude.

If it's an "unfamiliar area" to you, I can only presume that it's nowhere near where you live. So there's really no compromising your identity by revealing where it may be.

The only reason to hide the location is that a different angle will show a different situation as far as signage is concerned. Although, having said that, the sign in the picture does seem to be clear enough.

BTW, why did you not see the large white markings painted onto the hump - the ones clearly visible in your picture?
  • in your first diagram the car turning right WOULD have seen the sign as they did a proper right turn (a tight 90 straight into the new road), however if you did an idiots right turn at speed (and by that I mean taking an early right turn across the incoming traffic and through the wrong side of the road on the road you are entering) you wouldn't.

Also I can see the road markings on the speed bump...

I would blame the driver for either not doing a proper right turn (and so not seeing the sign), not paying attention when turning right (and not seeing the sign), not looking at the road ahead (and not seeing the road markings on the bumps, driving too fast to react to road markings (seeing the marks but not being able to react).

and ALL of them make it the drivers fault
  • Whilst, in the real world, I don't think the OP has a leg to stand on here, I do have some sympathy with the frustration caused by a 30mph zone that can't under reasonable conditions be driven through at 30. I think that speed bumps should be designed to restrict one's speed to the legal limit- i.e I should be able to safely drive over a speed bump at 30 in a 30 zone. I'd expect a bump in a 20 zone to be OK to drive over at 20. Considering the damn things are supposed to confine one's speed to the legal limit, if the local authority wants people to drive at 15 or 20 in a 30 zone, change the speed limit!
