a bit of a fantasy - what would you do if you had a £100000 windfall?

I'd buy my cat a big cat house, a bottle of Jonny Walker Blue and a pre-CBS Fender guitar. Buy a new camper van and order an Indian takeaway.
The rest would be saved.0 -
Lawrie: You really shouldn't be feeding your cat whisky. Although I would like to see it playing the guitar.0

I understand that many cats are accomplished musicians!

I received a £100k windfall last year..the mortgage had been paid off luckily and we have a decent pension.
We bought a car, nice holiday and currently have £90k left sat in the usual high interest cash accounts plus an ISA, so all easily accessible.
The massive difference between now and then is that we now have a barrier so we dont have to worry about the expense of eating out, a weekend away, servicing the car etc, treating the kids or buying nice clothes.
Its literally being used as a buffer and peace of mind for every day living expenses and trust me that has taken away all our financial worries and led to a better quality of life all round.0 -
A few years ago, we got a similar sum courtesy of some critical illness insurance. I invested the lot in a variety of assets, mainly equities, and I'm mighty glad that I did. It's going to buy us a great holiday or two every year for 30-40 years, which it couldn't have done if stuck in the bank.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -

rather frighteningly the cat started flicking at the strings of one of my guitars yesterday! Very strange. Maybe I'm in line to get £100k - who knows?!!0 -
1) Smile a lot.
2) Get a round in
3) Full ISA (S&S) allowances for the next 2 years so £30.5K there.
4) Max overpayment on my mortgage for 2 years £18K-ish.
5) Using my back-dated allowance I should be able to get £40K into my pension pot. I am a 40% tax payer so there is a big benefit here.
Undecided on the remaining £11.5K. I may be frivolous and enjoy it.0 -
I'd come on here and tell everyone0

Use it for house deposit although I probably still couldn't afford most of the properties in my area. I would prob ask my landlord if he would sell us the one we live in**Debt Free as of 15:55 on Friday 23rd March 2012**And I am staying that way
