How much do you save each month?

Might be better to express this figure as a percentage of take home pay. I'm not poor but couldn't save £1000 a month!0

Yes maybe I misread the posts, my apologies in that case!0

And again back to the OPs question, as a couple we have salaries of nearly £70k, save at least £500 p/month, plus £250 paying back the deposit on our property that we borrowed from family (so essentially paying back in to the capital of our property), plus the capital element of the mortgage. We also pay in to pensions and there's about another £250 ish going in to my OH's SAYE scheme at work.0

I save around £250 a month. Have only just started saving in recent months. I could save more but I love to shop eat out and travel.0

I never really get these threads where people need to compare themselves regarding how much they spend or save.
Everybody is completely individual, with different incomes, commitments and lives, so the information gathered about other people's lives may be interesting, but is not relevant to your own life.
Perhaps it'd be best to concentrate on your own life and not worry about what everybody else may or may not be doing.Early retired - 18th December 2014

I'm a sad git who spreadsheets and on paper at least I'm on average saving 12% of my monthly pay. Now that I've cleared my overdraft that should hopefully rise, and that's not including my company's share save scheme (another £60/month).: )0

On average 11% of our take-home pay however that's physical cash.
We both pay into final salary pension schemes and overpay our mortgage by 68% of the normal monthly payment.0 -
As of next year we will be saving around 45-50% of our take home pay. This doesn't include the 6% of gross pay that goes into my pension and 4% that goes into the company share scheme (company pays 3% and when cashed in these will also go into my pension). This is, of course, because we are on a "saving spree" to build up the retirement funds, and because the mortgage will be paid off next year as well.Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.0

But let Lippy indulge in the 6% interest and the holier than thou attitude. You can't take it with you, but it can buy posh lettering.0
