We're talking about the poster posted above, right? You really read that every time you go in and send a parcel (because it might have changed)? Bet you read terms and conditions from end to end every time too.

Also, can you imagine the queues if everyone read (and re-read to check for changes) every time they sent a parcel ?

well you read it in the queue.
    so no delay added?

Got to love all the posters on here who think it's quite acceptable for Royal Mail to keep someone's parcel, then sell it themselves for a profit.

Yet if someone posted on here about Royal Mail making a mistake and misdelivering a parcel to them, they'd be up in arms at the suggestion the recipient could keep it and sell the contents.

    solution?
Are you okay with the destruction,a fee or what?
Personally I think RM should ditch the returns centre and destroy anything without proper payment/address/return address.
    Agree?

well probably worse, given SDs are nearly all flown.
    WOW seriously?

Or that just like if you're posting Southampton to Newcastle?

Surely within city parcels they just drive?

Yes,of course local stuff is split out. However with a cut off at a PO in the late afternoon and a next day delivery.
Flying is the easiest way to make the long distance connections.
Flights run every day between large airports. So its just part of the network.

No, they should do what every other person in the country is obliged to do when handling goods that aren't their own - follow a duty of care to those goods.

If Royal Mail misdeliver an item to me, I can't just keep it, sell it or destroy it. The same should apply if I make a mistake sending an item. They should make it available for me to collect if I wish.

If im purchasing a service yes I do read the T&C's.

And who is going to pay for setting up and running the collection facilities?
I know that they could levy a charge on people wishing to collect goods that are prohibited in the post but every time RM had to contact someone regarding a held item, admin and storage costs would acrue even if the person concerned decided that they didn't want the item back.
  • Storage costs aren't chargeable by someone left with a parcel due to RMs mistake. Therefore I don't believe they should be chargeable by RM because of a customers mistake.

The same responsibilities should work both ways.

If the recipient of wrongly delivered goods could prove that they had to spend money storing those goods there is no reason why they shouldn't be able to reclaim it but how often would this actually be the case?
RM on the other hand would have to pay for this new collection service, the cost of which would be passed on to their customers.

    I disagree . Not knowing the t & cs isn't a mistake .
