Mortgage payment day and thanks to the interest rates a whopping £564 has come off the outstanding total

What is now annoying me is the fact that if I hadn't bought that lens, the 'Paying interest on' figure would be under £130k next month. But I've been brave and submitted some of my photos to an agency to see if they'll take me on - not a microstock service either. They're being scrutinised by their quality control department at the moment and I'm trying not to think about it too much! Should hear by the end of the week. I'm not optimistic, but they give reasons for rejections, so at the least I'll get some feedback on how to improve to their standards.

Right, my challenge for May is to sell, sell, sell and try and make enough extra cash on top of normal turnover to pay for that lens in full and therefore not touch the offset amount!

Hmmm, odd. My images are still showing as 'Awaiting QC' but there's now a figure in the Fail box as well. I think that means that they're being rejected, but they've not got round to updating the reasons why yet. Back to the drawing board anyway!

Another £100 into the offset account and I'm going back downstairs to carry on bagging findings. Peruvian ceramic beads are ready to ship from Lima and, since it's a small test order, are coming by air, so should be with me in a week or so. More forms done for the bank overdraft application, hopefully that's the last lot.

£105 into the offset this week and I've had such a good sales week that it's starting to look hopeful that I won't have to touch that money to pay for the lens :j:j:j

This week I've bagged up 86,000 split rings into selling-sized packs, just have to photograph them and then they're done. Just head/eye pins, metal beads and earwires to go now. The really, really good news this week is that I got approved for a £5k business overdraft yesterday with a review in 6 months' time for a possible increase to £10k, which I'm over the moon about! One of today's tasks is to check that it's been made available to my account and then go shopping at the next new supplier :D:D

No sign of the Peruvian beads yet and EMS tracking for Peru parcels appears to be down. Hoping like mad I haven't been ripped off, but I did do some homework on this company before I ordered from them and they seem to be perfectly legitimate. It could just be a problem locally - our normal postman is on holiday and his stand-in is terrified of pigs and has refused to deliver down our main drive because it's shared with our neighbour and he has a 2-year-old, very large pig roaming loose round it, which comes up and attempts to mug you for food when you open the car door. So she's parking at the top and walking down our field instead, which means she won't want to lug a heavy box down.

Discovered that two of my photos passed QA and two failed on exposure, so something to work on. For initial submissions all four shots have to pass or they reject the lot, so back to the drawing board and try again.

It's been a really, really good week :D

Another £145 into the offset means that the interest bearing amount is nearly under £130k - we took this mortgage out on June 2nd 2008, so that's been reduced by £15k in a year

I got the official letter through about my business overdraft and found that it was at 6% (base + 5.5%), not 9.9% like I'd assumed

My Peruvian beads are here and are PERFECT

The Indian supplier I was placing an order with yesterday emailed me back to send me their new, reduced price list and to let me know that if I increased my order to $5001 or more I'd move up a discount band and they'd air freight my order to my nearest international airport free of charge - since the amount I need to spend is about the same as what sea freighting it would have cost me, I'm happily filling my online basket

And I'm not going to have to touch the offset account to pay for my lens. I'll have a few more weeks like this, thank you very much :D

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
