wheelie bin dilemma

i put my bins out late at night and put the extra bags in other peoples bins.0

some peaople are talking about bags in the bins!! we are NOT allowed to put any form of any bag into the bins, including the food waste, it has to just be slopped into the bin, thats what causes the maggots i think, its disgusting!!
Yes i am irate about it, as a single parent caring full time for a disabled son and having back problems myself i have enough to do without having all this hassle with the bins!!!
I have had no reply from the council and the bin remains out in the street awaiting emptying!!
As for the ques at the tip, i know this as its a big local problem often featured in the press and ive been caught many a time behind the que whilst on my way somewhere else!!0 -
what council is it that tells you that you can't put bags in the bin?0

i think you are wroing when u say everyone else manages fine!! loads of people are moaning about the system, its a big problem for lots of people.
Also how on earth can i be more sensible re waste!!! its rubbish, it goes in the bin!!! what more is there to it!!! recyclable gets recycled.
and i cant bag waste meat as we are not allowed to bag anything!! i have to disguise the dog poo bags by wrapping in paper!! (paper which could have been recycled)!!!
I was actually in the back garden steam cleaning the paths when the binmen came so they cant have failed to hear that someone was there, they could have asked me to move the bags, but no its easier for them just to leave the bin full.!!
We are not allowed to put bleach in the food waste bin, as its used for compostBlimey, OP. Calm down! When I lived in a house 2 years ago (I live in an apartment now, and the rubbish is collected from industrial bins in the basement, weekly - but then again, my service charge is probably double your council tax, so fair enough) it was the same. If you don't want anything getting into the bin, why not place two bricks on them - you're not supposed to place rubbish on them, and for whatever reason, you did. So the blame is with you whether you like it or not.
I regularly had maggots in the bin. The solution? Clean your bin!! When it *does* get emptied, swill it out with bleach and water (there are companies that do this too) and tip it down the drain. Make sure you bag waste meat seperately where you can (ie, raw chicken, chicken carcass, bones etc). If flies can't get to it, no maggots will grow!
TBH you sound like you are getting really irate when all the council bin workers have done is their job. They won't take extra bin bags not only because it's not within their regulations but also because there might be syringes, fecal matter etc etc on the bags. Why should someone have to touch that- they have to be vigilant. You're expecting them to empty your maggoty, filthy bin and they don't even get a smile or a thanks at Christmas any more!!
If you were a bit more sensible about your waste not only would you be helping the environment, you'd have nothing to moan about. Sorry OP, but it irks me people can get so ratty about it, when everyone else seems to manage fine.0 -

i'm confused
how many bins do you have cos you've mentioned a food waste bin and a wheelie bin. You can't put bin bags in any of them? but i bet you can still buy them in Suffolk and they're still called 'bin bags'.

We've had fortnightly collections for over a year now. I have 2 wheelie bins though - got an extra one myself. I used to put 2 full bins out every week. Now, with the recycling, it's down to less than 2 a fortnight, sometimes only one. Our binmen are pretty good. If I put an extra bag of plastic out (we only have one small recycling box) they'll still take it away. If I forget to put it out I just take it to the supermarket recycling bins next time I go. It would be a problem if you didn't have a car though. I'm happy enough with the fortnightly collections.0

We have three wheelie bins, one is brown for food and garden waste, one is grey with blue lid for recycling (but no glass)!! and one grey for general household rubbish!! AND we get naughty stickers and no emptying of bin if we happen to put the wrong thing in any of them!! and yes we are not allowed to put bags in any of them. (expect empty ones, which have to go in general household rubbish)!!scheming_gypsy wrote: »i'm confused
