USB wall sockets?
[Deleted User]

I was looking at some 13A, double wall sockets, with built in USB sockets, in Asda.
They replace existing 13A sockets.
However, they look to be a lot deeper than the normal sockets, so probably won't fit a standard Patrice Box.
Can you get spacers, to set the socket out a little?

Fit a lot of these now for customers - albeit I wouldn't suggest ASDA as a reliable source for my gear...
Some models just about fit a normal 25mm back box (BG & LAP & others) others require changing to a 35mm box or fitting a front spacer (which generally looks crap IMO) {and it's a "pattress" box}

I can't easily switch to deeper boxes, because the walls are brick.
I think spacers are going to be the way to go.0 -
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

The sockets I have came with a spacer to give a little more depth.0

My screwfix ones aren't too deep and have been working flawlessly for over a year0

It's an American product... It's crowdfunded design and it seems (if you dig around) not yet actually shipping in ANY form (Native US or any other version) This makes interesting reading;

Lots of hassles getting even ETL approval for US market - have they even submitted for other world-wide certification?
Back to your question - They carefully avoid actually being specific about output current, as far as I could find out - no detailed spec or a .pdf file or anything on that so beautifully presented but vague website.
With all due respect, watch this original US version - then ask yourself if you trust someone unfamiliar with BS:1363 to design anything suitable for a non-native market. Is it even CE marked?

(and he has a daft name). It's at least twice the price of buying (IMO) a "proper" product - which isn't going to keep falling out of the socket (or look as damned ugly).. But what do I know, I'm only an electrician :-)0 -
500mA is no use to me.
I like to run my Hudl off the charger.0 -

How much are the Asda ones? Price? Current?0 -
+1 for the ones from Screwfix. Straight swap into my 25mm back boxes so no need for spacers. Charge all devices, although one phone (OnePlus One) requires its own specific cable.0
