Yes of course they can do it. They are warning you about this change, so if you don't like it, leave before it comes into effect.

I got BT Broadband a few months ago, and when I was unimpressed by their service, I tried to cancel. I am still shocked that they advertised a one month notice period for cancellation, which turns out to mean that you have to give them one months notice, and then pay the entire contract. I did not read the enormous amount of small print - fair enough, my error - but when they say a one month notice period, I assumed the common meaning, that you have to give one months notice, and then you finish the contract, and pay for what you used.
I am so disgusted at this advertising con, that I will never touch BT again when this expensive service comes to an end. I know that they are legally entirely correct - and very smug about it on the phone - but they have breached my trust for a short-term contract, and lost a customer in the long run.Titch0 -
i have been trying to complain to bt for months about slow and keep disconnecting broadband, phoning their 0845 nos. now they have put my bill up to £59.99 a month instead of £40 a month. and i still havent got my problem sorted out. only getting 1 or 2 kbs downloads on option 30
