This is very easy to resolve. The OP obtains pictures of the signs and posts them here. (We need to see the anyway.)
Maddog2015 posts pictures of the signs and we compare them to see who is telling the truth.

Does 3 feet square mean 3 x 3 = 9 square feet? Or does it mean 1 x 3 = 3 square feet? (Or 1.732 x 1.732).
