I think the one I had for my New Zealand trip did.

However, that was a more specialised one as I was going out there for a year.

General Insurance eg Motor Insurance, Home Insurance and Travel Insurance tend not to have a FM or Act of God Exclusion. It's an exclusion that tends to only apply to commercial Marine Policies.

"10. MYTH: There is an ‘Act of God' exclusion in insurance policies.
FACT: Insurance policies do not contain such an exclusion. The policy will set out what is insured and what the main exclusions are. If loss occurs from an event covered, then the insurer will pay out, in accordance with the policy terms and conditions."

    https://www.abi.org.uk/News/News-releases/2010/08/Truth-and-fiction--top-insurance-tips-and-myths

The reason people were not covered for the Volcano Ash was not due to an Act of God Exclusion, it was due to the policy wording defining what is covered for cancelling the policy and volcano ash not being one of the items covered.

The OP's Travel Insurance is likely to exclude claims due to Terrorism (Except Medical Emergency).

With an exceptional situation such as this, some of the better Insurers may feel a moral obligation to pay claims so may waive the Terrorism Exclusion.

Not all policies include cover for Excursions and Activities eg Disney Land tickets.

In addition not all companies will have a defined peril within the Curtailment Section which would cover the current situation (Ignoring any Terrorism Exclusion).

Here is the only relevant part of cover from a Direct Line Policy to the current situation, although I'm not sure the Foreign Office have or will advice UK Nationals to return from France due to safety.

"8 FCO travel advice: Foreign & Commonwealth
Office advice against ‘All travel’ or ‘All but
essential travel’ to your intended destination
comes into force after the start date or
renewal date of this insurance, or the date
when you booked your trip, whichever is later
and you cancel your trip in the 28 days before
    your departure."

t was only on Saturday that the president of France eckared three days of mourning.

Until then they would have no indication of it happening.

You may find the shops a re closed as well.

Contact Disney themselves in the first instance.
They have a very high level of customer care with good reason -because they are very, very good at it.
I am quite sure they'll sort something out.

Yep I suspect that to be the case, BUT the OP will also have to worry about the fact that they paid for flights + hotel too... I can't see Disneyland assisting with reimbursement of the flights + hotel, along with the possible costs associated with arranging another weekend to visit (taking time off work etc).

Contact insurance company and see what they say. The insurance company (Nationwide? pretty ok bank) employ humans, so they might be very understanding in light of the recent Paris attacks (even if you aren't automatically covered).

    Hi

Firstly I don't want this to come accross the wrong way, I'm shocked at the situation in Paris and my heart goes out to the people affected, but right now I'm sat in a Disneyland Paris hotel (arrived today) and the park is obviously closed, we were advised this morning the park would open tomorrow but just found out its going to be closed until Wednesday, we're due to go home on Monday.

With the late notice we're unable to go home today but there is no point staying so we're planning on checking out in the morning, only shops are open I think.

We have the free travel insurance with nationwide and wondered where do we stand with claiming back our money, it's cost me just shy of £900 to be here and will be booking to come back in a few weeks.

How do you tell an excited 6 year olds we now cant go, gutted for them

    Thanks

The park isn't far from Paris so why not spend the rest of your trip there - most places are open.

Just after a second or third terrorist event when even both our PM and their president is telling people to stay in their homes because the terrorists are saying this is just the beginning.

Please OP, don't follow this advice.

I agree... but i'm hoping the other posters sentiments were along the lines of we can't allow them to win by scaring people awaybring havoc to their economy.

OP is in a DLP hotel, so may get some reimbursement/ credit towards a future stay.
