  • I don't think it will be impossible at all. Any money coming in is better than no money coming in.

...but there must be an economic cut off point - I accept the "anything is better than nothing" argument to a degree, but, allowing for an inevitable increase in Sky TV subs due shortly, I would have to get better than 60% off or an even bigger bill credit next year to retain my "£5 per week target" for this package - haven't seen anyone crowing about 75% off deals lately and I can't remember seeing a bigger bill credit than £100 ?

Maybe but if enough people are like us and prepared to lose Sky then you never know. Now TV is an option but not as convenient as Sky plus box but I for 1 will not pay much for TV anymore. With my last deal sky has been free for that last 6 months. Time to cancel again soon.

I suspect that the maximum discount will soon be around 40% for retentions.

  • I've just got a freesat humax with 1TB storage and a 6 year warranty so no sky for at least 6 years for me. The occasional series I might miss from sky atlantic I can get from the occasional sub to Nowtv or other means...

When I first cancelled Sky I missed it (no other choices back in those days). Now, with YouView, Netflix and Amazon we have more than enough to get by and all for less than the cost of a Sky base pack.

Most people do not rely on SKY nowadays .

What do they rely on then?

    Freeview? See post 9
  • I use a Fire stick in my HDMI port giving me Freeview, Iplayer, Youtube plus a little netflix thrown in for 6 pounds a month

Spend the odd fiver on a DVD from a charity shop as well.

Suddenly even base Sky starts to look very dear indeed.

Mind you, most of the above requires a decent broadband connection.
