Very simple I'm afraid. The proportions are about 8oz chestnuts to 2oz breadcrumbs, simply boil the (peeled) chestnuts in chicken stock until tender, then blend with the breadcrumbs until smooth. I do tend to do a few lots at a time because it improves in the freezer
Thanks, Enterprise. I picked up a couple of bags of chestnuts reduced to 30p a bag.
'Your' chutney does certainly improve with age.:T:T So pleased that I made loads of jars of it with my glut of tomatoes.:beer:0 -

Hot diamonds have a code on the MSE news letter for 35% off and it includes their sale stuff. You also gain loyalty points which are very generous IMHO. Thought it might help with some ideas for Christmas presents.
When I'm not off sick I work in a jewellers and I've messaged my boss to tell him so we can honour the offer too so if you have a local jeweller it would be worth asking them then you can see the items up close and support a local business at the same time.0 -
morning all - it feels very calm and mid and serene outside after last nights racket :j
I hope everyone's bins and fences and trampolines are still intact and in their own gardens
Next door had new fence panels put in over the summer. Neighbour asked OH if she could give her dad a hand putting them in and OH said no problem. Neighbours dad does her lawns and DIY and her garden and spends days every week working there in the summer.
The panels arrived and OH and neighbours dad spent about 2 hours in the garden putting 3 panels in but then OH came inside in a right strop.
Neighbours dad is over 80 but thinks he is still in his 20s, very stubborn and possibly in the early stages of senility. OH had virtually been trying to put the panels in by himself. neighbours dad could not understand any instructions given to him and he has no physical strength whatsoever.
So when our builder was here in September OH and him sorted the panels out between them in literally 10 mins - one had gone in upside down. The last panel was behind a tree so it could not be fully slotted into place but it could be joeyed into staying put with nails etc so it wasn't moving about.
Neighbours dad has been worrying this panel on and off so now it bangs in the wind. He was playing with it again a few days ago so the inevitable happened last night, it is now out of its moorings.
and that is probably how its going to stay now for months. Neighbour sometimes has her daughters doggie staying over but that is not going to happen now - possibly if our builder comes to borrow the ladders that's about the only time it will be fixed again.
In the meantime Ronnie our black cat is fascinated that he can now get easy access to next doors garden again so neighbour will have sun bathing black Tom cats on her patio“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. does anyone know why they have started calling storms silly names?
I imagine everyone in proper hurricane and typhone belts is finding it highly amusing we are having Abigails and barneys“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. I feel a bit like this, like I am so over shopping I could not care less some days and wish that people would just leave food parcels on the doorstep :rotfl:“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Savvybuyer wrote: »It was aau1's v.good suggestion. It's probably an arbitrary cut-off but, if you spend more than £10, they probably then want you to spend more on cond.spends. At £20, they will want you to reach £30 etc.
I wouldn't do 10 mile round trips to Sainsbugs:rotfl: - is there anything, really, you can get from them that isn't better off elsewhere? 10 mile round is probably the journey now to my nearest A - and, with wombles, it's a lot cheaper than Sains! Not sure if my petrol though is exceeding the womble amounts - that was something I thought of and stopped making the journey recently as I figured it may be better to nip down the road and just buy a few items we need, at a time, from T. The petrol gauge was a lot healthier. I can't be guaranteed to do a round trip to A and always get wombles that covers the journey cost and more - though, sometimes, I'm sure it does. But then the gauge seems to go down - and perhaps I end up spending more?
If I'm at Sains, I put in £9 or so at a time (ideally 6 litres, which rounds the penny down and doesn't exceed the exact litres amount and be worthless in giving any points) - nothing to stop you returning to the car and filling again, with another £9, although I try to do that only once, otherwise it does draw attention. Maybe just forgot to fill the first time, and returned and found there was still some needed to fill the car! If you're putting in a full tank and spending say £40, won't your cond.spend required amounts become larger? That was, effectively, what I understood aau1 to be saying.
It does feel a bit of a treck to sainsbugs - the best use of time and petrol is if we call there on the way to town or on the way back or at least call at B & M next door which has had a good garden plant section over the summer, far better selection than Morrisons and good healthy plants as well.
Also it has the best recycling facilities - Oxfam cloth banks, Oxfam book banks, mixed plastics, tins, paper/card, mixed bottles, batteries - most of the recycling centres around here don't have a full set of bins (the big Morrisons in the next town does not even have paper recycling now)
Sainsbugs - I do like their clothing and I esp like going through the reduced clothing section esp at sale time.
There is very few food things I buy there that I cant get anywhere else.
They do a very nice selection of own brand cordials for £2 cheaper than elsewhere eg elderflower and there is a very nice grapefruit cordial.
also the cats love the salmon harringtons dry cat food which comes in big bags for £5 and they also like the Sainsburys own brand gravy cat food.
and there is always the thrill of the hunt - the very rare occasions when things in the reduced chill cabinet are cheap enough or there are useful items in the bent tin section or clearance items in the freezer.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

that is exactly the situation I thought might happen and it will annoy the **** out of normal everyday muggle shoppers who are getting conditional spends in the post but find that when they do their normal weekly shop they wont have spent enough
- there will be a lot of cussing and "what is the point" at the tills when they cant get their heads around it.
Then tills will be held up while the OH is sent to find something to take totals over the required amount“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
I mostly seem to be muttering to myself so that means its time to stop avoiding the To Do list - nice surprise to find the calendar has nothing on it this morning so in theory the house should be scrubbed and the To Do list tackled by lunch time - as if that is ever going to happen :rotfl:“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove.
