They received the returns ok and the 'My account' section of the DAP website states that the new phones have been disconnected.
No confirmation as yet that the ports to O2 have been cancelled (this bit of the cancellation process was truly horrendous - other than that it wasn't too bad) so I've emailed O2 directly for this.
If DAP have sorted this out properly I'll definately get the next phones from them as well, just as soon as I've decided on what I want - again

Right, here we go…- Sent phones back by SD - received by Dial-A-Phone on 30/08/07
- Also sent email on 29/08/07 informing them that their automated porting cancellation system was crap and to take that email as confirmation that the porting process should be cancelled.
- DAP state that 3 days are required to ensure the porting process is cancelled. The date I was given for porting was 03/09/07 (today) so they had 4 days to cancel the ports.
- Today, despite this, the ports went ahead. What I mean by this is that my old Tesco PAYG SIM’s (which I had just topped up because the ports should have been cancelled) stopped working, however the numbers were not ported to the O2 SIM card I had been given by DAP.
- I followed all their rules to the letter, but...
- Ports went ahead irrespective
- DAP have lost both my old numbers during the porting process
- For what it was worth I phoned DAP just now who said I should email them. I said that a reply takes at least a few days (if you get one at all) and I need my old numbers. He said they have lots of complaints and I’d just have to take my turn
 . Priceless.
PS - Sorry to keep going, but as they’ve allegedly ported the number to O2, if I now wanted to take out a new O2 contract I’d have to get a PAC from O2, port out again to a temp PAYG then port back in - again.
Thanks for listening.0 -
Quick update...
As I feared Dial A Phone have made a complete hash of the returns and cancellations.
Despite the fact that I returned the phones by Special Delivery to Dial A Phone, have printed documentation that they were received and signed for and have confirmation emails that the contracts have been cancelled, O2 have recently billed me for 2 x 12 month contracts in full, which is approx £660.
I emailed DAP requesting further confirmation that had cancelled these with O2 and they replied that they had, however O2 have had nothing of the sort from them.
I've faxed the cancellation confirmations to O2 CS to prove that DAP had accepted them back but O2 have stated that they need to get in touch with DAP but that they're not returning their calls!
I've emailed Peter Erskine and got in touch with the complaints team. So far I've heard nothing and am being kept in the dark.
What makes this worse is that I think this episode is likely to have resulted in a default on my credit file, which is going to make it damn hard to get new contracts when this is finally sorted.
I suppose I'm just having a rant but any help or advice would be appreciated
.
