If I buy a loaf of bread the supermarket can't forbid me from eating half and giving half to someone else.
When you buy a loaf of bread, then a contract is established between you and the supermarket, one that of course doesn't prohibit you passing on the bread.
But the supermarket could have a different contract at the checkout (would have to be a written contract presumably and you'd have to sign it), which agrees to sell you the bread provided you agree not to pass it on. Admittedly, it's unlikely that either party would seriously consider such a daft contract for a loaf (and it would be ridiculous to enforce), but it shows that in theory, they could forbid you from giving it away.0 -
Top Tip: Beat the system by swapping cars with the guy you want to give your unused parking to.
That'll show the profiteering car park owners.0 -
And the councils' wonder why High Streets are abandoned, and the out of town centres are busy?0

I always thought it was a local council by-law which stopped you from giving your ticket to another person.
If you see that the tickets are not transferable either don't park there or just enter their contract to park there and get on with it.The more I live, the more I learn.

Our local council have installed these meters you enter your registration on, installed anpr, and have done away with the warden and now issue by comparing anpr to the meter data.
Apparently the system is cheaper than a warden salary and transporting him between car parks.0 -
I bought a ticket to place on my windscreen this morning. My appointment finished much earlier than I expected, so when I left I passed the ticket to the lady who used the parking bay I had just vacated.
Oh noes! I'll get charged, hung, drawn and quartered!0 -
It is a shame, the parking in my home town is so expensive. Shops are closing down and one of the main factors is that people don't want to pay for parking. So terrible:money:- ET Phone Home.....0

While you all are typing in the reg number, I'll be waving from the FREE motorbike parking bay

I believe it is, as the council in the mentioned area have recently introduced anpr and number plate input to their meters in their pay and display car parks. It's a strong assumption that's almost certainly right,0
