Depending on the ages of the children you can set activities for them.
I know a few friends who have children and work at home (that's meant to be the other way round but you get the gist!)
Should they be small enough that they are in the same room as you then you can have special (quiet!) toys that they can only play with while you are at work. Or to draw a picture for you/colouring. Or play dough.
My friend has a little sign or picture that when she is on the phone she holds up to let her child know that they must be quiet during this time and mummy is not to be interupted. Should the inevitable happen like someone crying then make sure you have a mute button ready!!!
Hmmm what other tips. Set them house cleaning tasks? If they are old enough then they can go round dusting? Or tidy their room?
I'll go think some more.
yes, i like the dusting and tidying part! i also just realized that the headsets that we will be using have a background noise reducing microphone. which means that every little sound will not be heard.
have the mute button ready along with m&m's to throw out of the room so they'll have a project running after to find it! :rotfl: then after they find the m&m, throw a jelly bean!0 -

can you guys believe that i tried to start the same kind of post that oliver did for this one (i'm in US)
and they all yelled at me, and it got deleted cause they said i was advertising?!?!?!
see! this is the difference between you guys and people in the US! they are all such snots here! i could never get the type of camaraderie on a forum here that you guys have in UK. the hell with them...if they're all too damn paranoid and closed minded to even consider what other people say then they can continue in the rat race.
can you believe it?!?!
i also found out why a lot of work at home jobs aren't easy to find. i was reading an article that said if companies posted these types of positions in the market, they would get soooo many responses they wouldn't be able to handle it. so they keep it all hush-hush. they only post the openings on their website, or it's thru word of mouth from their own employees, and of the course the positions fill up fast. here are some of the companies that i found out for sure hire for @home:
Hilton Hotels Reservation specialist (can you believe it?)
home depot
staples
general electric
jet blue airways
there's actually a BIG boom happening right now for @home positions, it's just that companies don't want riots at thier doors so they're going about it quietly. there are some news clip links that i'll try to post on here.
thanks for letting me vent!!0 -
A couple of the legacy US airlines are doing it too-not just Jetblue.
In the UK I can name at least one large travel company who does it too for their citybreak operation.
Must admit I could NOT imagine doing this job with small children in the room. I can't see how it would work-at least 3 hours is far too long to expect a small child (and even some bigger ones) to stay silent.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
ok try these links and see if they work:

yes i agree, it would be hard for a child. in my case i have their dad available (who does nothing but play with them anyway:T ).0
