  • Hi.

I'm looking for a hotel in London on Friday 4th March for 2 nights. As cheap as possible but also nice and clean. Anyone have any recommendations. I'm not sure where to start or what a good price would be.

    Thanks.

It is also close to Gloucester Road tube station on the Piccadilly, Circle and District Lines.

Anyone know which hotel this one might be?

"Knightsbridge Hotel close to Harrods - 4* - London
This basic boutique hotel is situated in the heart of Knightsbridge. It is close to the famous Harrods department store and is well connected to the whole of London with a tube station just few minutes walk away. Rooms are decorated in a contemporary style and Hyde Park is just a stroll away."

    Thanks.

Just to re-iterate, don't stay here. I think it's probably the worst secret hotel of the lot and certainly the worst value.

This is not the Hilton Metropole as suggested above but the Holiday Inn Kensington Forum.

Yes, for Friday 21st near to Mayfair

just need a single room, was hoping get something for around £100

OK, Mayfair is the hardest area to get good deals for - if you let me know how far away is OK I might be able to find you some better value a little bit further afield.

    Having said that:

Luxury & Fab Hotel near Buckingham Palace - Crowne Plaza St James, £99
Hot Winter Rates-near Buckingham Palace & Theatres - Park Plaza Victoria, £86

If you want to go further away, Mercure London City Bankside ("Trendy high quality hotel, amazing location") for £69, My current favourite the Hilton Kensington ("Upscale property in West London, Kensington") for £81, the ultra-modern Hilton Canary Wharf ("Contemporary hotel at the new business district") for £86 or the lovely Crowne Plaza London the City ("Amazing deal at Cool Luxury City Centre Hotel") for £86.

Can anyone recommend a good hotel near Theatreland as my friend would like to surprise her husband for his birthday. They have stayed at the Grange Holborn a few times so something of that standard please. Thanks in advance!

What date is she looking to stay? Personally I don't think the Grange Holborn deserves its claimed 5* rating and am confident one of the better 4* hotels in town would offer a better experience at a similar price.

Also, do they have a preference for which end of Theatreland she would like the hotel to be near? And how far away is she willing to be? My previous post may contain some useful ideas but true 5* will cost a bit more.

You have plenty of time as I shouldn't think that weekend will be too busy (unless there's some big event I've forgotten).

Basically, if you are looking for 3* or below (anything below £60/nt really) secret hotels might not be the way for you to find the best deal. For 3* and below I would look at booking.com and laterooms before lastminute. If you are looking for a quality 4* hotel between £60-£100/nt you are likely to find a bargain. This is something you will have to decide for yourself.

The best deals generally appear about a week before you would be due to stay, particularly at the bigger and better chains. Basically these hotels are using the promotion as a way to sell otherwise empty rooms to people who would normally be forced to book a lower standard of hotel.

The other big factor is where you want to stay. Obviously there is a big price difference between Westminster and Willesden.

So, where in town do you want to stay, and what side of the price/quality equation is the most important to you?

I think they just like a little bit of luxury, not necessarily 5* rating. She is hoping to watch Jersey Boys if she can find good stall tickets at a reasonable price (any good at finding those :) ) and she is hoping to go 12th March.
    Thanks for your help!
