Do I have a case for compensation with Motor Insurance Company?

Don't take the offer!
You need reimbursing all the costs you were put to by their neglect over this.
(You haven't been lucky at all by being "let off".)
Your insurer made an error and would have paid out were you involved in any claims during this period.
What other costs were incurred then? The Police cancelled the charge apparently. His vehicle wasn't seized. He didn't have to use other forms of transport.0 -

According to the OP they took out another policy elsewhere based on them having a conviction for no insurance0 -
Maybe but the police cancelled the IN10 and fine and insurance company admitted liability. Just not sure when I have received a confirmation email of my policy renewing, how I am ever to know that they have then cancelled it. I'm sure when you take your policy you would also not know it suddenly cancelled?!
I know when both my policies start and finish, I also know if my bank account gets debited by £400, or if my bank account did not get debited by £400 around renewal time.
The fact that you are female, it was late and dark outside is irrelevent. If you had internet on your phone, you could of taken out a 24 hour insurance policy for £25 and been on your way.
In either case you have been very lucky that the police let you off and have been offered something from your insurers as a sorry. No insurance is an "absolute offence" so the police could really of thrown the book at you, even though your insurers had made a mistake, maybe it because it was dark, or late or something else.
Well done though!0 -

Had the police not "let her off" then it would have been dismissed by a court!
The insurers agreed they were responsible!0 -

I don't recall the OP mentioning the other insurance was influenced by having a conviction. In fact there was no conviction.
OP said she had to fork out £1900 to re-insure with the same company (to avoid the charge being prosecuted, which could lead to a conviction), then cancelled that insurance within the 14 days cancellation period and went elsewhere. OP does not say the other insurance was escalated because of what had happened.
Now if the insurance was increased due to loss of NCD then that may be a reasonable loss. (e.g. because of the break in insurance). Basically, OP needs to quantify what losses she has borne due to the actions of the insurance company, then claim for that.0 -

If the person she spoke to at the Insurers had a reasonable knowledge of Insurance they would arrange the new Insurance taking into account a pending no insurance conviction which attracts the same loading as an actual insurance conviction0 -
The key word there is IF. Unless OP comes back and tells us more then we're only guessing.0

Did they back date the policy?0
