Fresh from a day of number crunching, cleaning & carrots. Energy account is indeed in credit as I suspected. £646 of credit to be precise. Have decided to leave £400 in account for now to offset winter bills but have requested a refund of the remaining £246. Here's me budgeting a tighter than usual month when that surplus could be helping us. It would more than cover the balance on that big car bill & the extra mobile phone payments I didnt expect to be making.
Then things got carrotty. Tidied something away in the pantry & spotted a load of carrots which had been overlooked. Now sliced, blanched & frozen. I hate wasting food so glad I spotted them.
Haven't knitted a single stitch yet, but the night is young!
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Evening all,
:coffee:
Debt-Free Nillionaire Month 6:
* Have spent a huge chunk of the day arguing with Littlewoods Home Insurance before politely telling them where to place their insurance renewal. They couldn't organise a beer in a brewery. Safe to say that's not coffee in my mug right now. I then ended up getting a policy with the AA instead. £58 but £19 Quidco cashback due back on it. £39/year is reasonable I think.
* Went out to lunch from our entertainment budget. OH didn't eat all her starter so brought it home to the new fridge in a doggy bag.
* We're in the midst of the tail end of a hurricane so no going anywhere tonight.
Have a good evening everyone.

News:
RBS and NatWest customer's who have Black or Platinum current accounts will be paying more each month for their accounts from January. (Link) Personally I think packaged accounts are a waste of money, but they fit some people's cirumstances.

Hello

Well it's even later than my first attempt because one of the cats just jumped onto my laptop and deleted the reply I'd just typed out. Blimming cat
Anyway - I knew it was going to be a long day but not this long... Still I'm home now and snuggled in bed.
Welcome to the thread pennies - it's so supportive here.
Ally, I am always in awe of how many links, tips and tricks you share with us on here. I don't know how you do it, but thank you.
Bob - hope your ds has enjoyed his birthday.
And Foxgloves - that is an amazing bit of a windfall that will help you out just when you were looking at a tight month.
I am thrilled to bits that it's the weekend - even though it's going to be manic again. A change is as good as a rest, and I can lie in until 8 if I want to.crazy_cat_lady wrote: »
