Friday 13 Nov - What small DFW things will you do today?!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:money:

Morning folks!
Thanks to La E for the start this morning.
Early post from me as am in a training course all morning then must work like a little beast this afternoon.
Yesterday's dinner out was a bit of a spendy one but am planning an non-spendy weekend to make up for it!
Today's plan:- L/D from stores
- Hopefully fill up on free breakfast nibbles at training centre - an apple and the world's smallest muffin
- Possibly go for a run - depends if they feel we can take a lunch break - it HAILED on me! Poured with rain, gale force winds. Got back to the office; sun comes out *sigh*
- Relaxing before work as have an extra half an hour - laid in bed with a coffee, annoying my OH who was trying to sleep - done

- Rang Vodafone about the fact that my new price plan appears not to have been applied to my account. I rang two weeks ago to change it. Nothing happened, so I thought that perhaps it would apply from the bill date (i.e. today). Logging in this morning still shows my OLD price plan, but the £20 admin fee has still been applied to my account!
Vf: Good morning Vodafone
Me: *explains problem*
Vf: I'm afraid we can't see your bill yet
Me: Well I can see my bill
Vf: Yes but we can't yet
Me: If you generated my bill to send to me, how comes you can't see it?
Vf: We might be able to see it later, can you call back then?
Me:...
I think I'll try to wangle a refund on the admin fee if the new plan hasn't been applied. I object to paying for them to change something and they don't do it!! - resolved! They HAD failed to change the tariff over. They can't guarantee a refund as it's now dealt with by a neutral department, but the chap on the phone has requested on for me.
PS: If any Vodafone peeps are reading this, the chap was absolutely lovely.- Carrying on with the list...
- OH to hoover while I'm at work
- Ask friend at work about noise cancelling headphones as want to buy a cheap but reasonable pair for my daddy for Christmas (sudden divine inspiration hit me as I was going to sleep) - any recommendations for you fine people are also welcome
- Crochet later as will no doubt be blitzed from the training
- Put washing away
- May cast eyes around the house for decluttering items. Not really doing mins game as I binned/cs'd loads last month so probably got rid of the obvious things, but have been very inspired by the KonMarie thread on the OS board.
- Looked up and saw a soft toy that could be decluttered to a friend's daughter. He's a lovely smooth fabric'd lizard which I don't want any more. He lives on top of the pc because... well because he does. He does not really spark joy any more. - forgot to take with me - must put into work bag
- In fact there are several things around the pc desk which do not spark joy in their current environment. Will discuss with OH - he is the more hoardy one in the relationship
Have a good one all

Morning all

Thanks for the start La E
I was awake at 3.30 this morning  and don't know why - couldn't really get back to sleep either
Today's list:
Check banks -Done
Sort out car insurance I decided this can wait till next week, after checking and seeing that it is not actually due till the 29th
Couple of jobs at sales unit - Done
Go back to farm supplier as I bought the wrong food for the chickens the other day  I can't return it either, as I had ripped open the bag before I realised
They will eat it eventually, but it comes into the 'treat' category as opposed to the regular food that supplies all they need to keep up the egg production. Done
Clean out chickens' nestbox - wish they wouldn't sleep / poo in there! As it was pouring with rain, I simply topped it up with clean straw. It will be doing properly when dry though!
More tidying / decluttering in house - we have a guest this weekend, so an extra reason to tidy up! Work in progress!
HM meals from stores - use up day today! Done
Walk pup x 2 - one done Only ended up with one, as he would far rather not go out in torrential rain
Groom pup this evening when we are both sitting on the sofa
Plan meals for the weekend - see what I have in, and what I need to get
Bag of old clothes to recycling clothes bin thing in supermarket car park (I can coincide this with a dog walk
) - Done
Take old mobile phones to post office to send off to envirophone
I am sure there is more, but that is all I can think of at the moment. I will pop back later to update
Hope everyone has a good day (especially those who were feeling down yesterday)

Hi everyone :hello:
Hope we are all feeling a bit better today - don't let Friday 13th put you off!!!
I'll share the teas and coffees out - let's see if that helps :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:
CLF - what a palaver with your phone company - hope you get the admin fee back at least!
CCL - glad you are feeling a bit better today - lots of big deep breaths are your prescription from Dr La e
CS - you are a busy bee!
Big hellos to everyone else who follows :hello:
DNMS - have a great trip with dgd - sounds fab!
I got a bit of a deal yesterday... Bought something a while ago that was on 2 for £30 (was £24 each). Used one. Took the other back but didn't have a receipt and they gave me a credit note for £24! They didn't even question it or ask how much I paid originally so I'm trying not to feel too guilty about this one...!!
Here's my listypopadoodles:- Sorted out another system for money for my class - hopefully new pencil case/money case will make it easier! Sounds really simple but when 10 or so people come over all needing change it is a total stress! This one also has another pocket so I can put the hall hire money straight in there so it's out of sight/out of mind and already saved up for the next month's bill.
- Going to try piggybanking - just need to figure out what to put where - figure even if I can put £5 in each then it is a start/more than I have 'saved' at the mo!!

- Had a slight panic because I used a 0% deal on my cc which is usually the one I pay off in full each month (if I use it). So now there is a balance transfer on it I had a panic that I CAN'T use it even if I want to.
- Reminded myself that ^^ will save me £70+ in interest payments each month so it is the right thing to do - and more incentive to get paying the bleeding thing off!!
- Need to look over SOA now I know (roughly) what each of the bills for new house will be - probably a task for the weekend though...
So annoyed this morning - looked in the fridge for the turkey breast I bought this week and is off - all brown and use by 11th Nov. I am usually so careful with that sort of thing.
The dog is going to love me this weekend!!
No major plans for the evening so looking forward to checking in with y'all then.
Take care out there peeps! :grouphug:0 -

Morning Money Savers,
Today's money saving things:
*Make bread rolls & mini pizzas & pack some for tomorrow's picnic.
*Freeze leftover duck breast strips. There's defo another meal there.
*Clean entire house using minimal products & washable microfibre cloths.
*Finish knitting sleeve (for jumper which is for a gift).
*FINALLY an energy bill after 6 months of supplier IT problems. Will be studying the figures to assess how we are doing as we enter the colder months.
*Do some surveys as am very behind with these & I want to cash in another Toluna before Chistmas if possible.
*Check online banking to see if Onepoll payment has appeared yet.
*Forward great Body Shop discount code to mr f.....a bit cheeky as have put Body Shop items on my Christmas list but I couldn't bear him to pay full price when I'm sitting on an offer code.
*Mr f offered to call in Aldi on way home so I wrote this week's target grocery spend on the list.
*Prioritise job list for next week. I could do with prioritising festive prep & deep cleaning the kitchen including turning out all the cupboards.
Ok, must get cracking with the bread dough & fire up the Dyson.
Here's to a good day for us all,
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
