I have a Samsung Galaxy Mega i9205 which needed to be sent off to Samsung for repairs as it died on me.
Samsung have repaired the phone, but, the repair has reset the phone to original settings and when I tried to put my Giffgaff sim it, the phone is locked to SFR (French Network)
Samsung say they cannot help and to contact the shop I purchased from, the shop has gone out of business!
Any thoughts on what I can do from here?

Purchase an unlock code for it? Even if the shop was still trading you would have no case, because they sold it to you unlocked and the repair you requested has returned it to the factory state. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

So it is an SFR phone? You have no complaint. Organise for it to be unlocked again.====0 -
From SFR? I don't speak French!
Samsung have told me that a code will not unlock the phone and that it will need a download?
I can't even find an email address for SFR At least I could message them via Google translate!"Hope for the Best

Not from SFR, you aren't their customer so they won't help you, you will need to contact whoever unlocked it previously, or look to buy the unlocking code from an unlocker on eBay (or similar).
It is possible to unlock via code (if available).====0 -

The origins of the phone are that it was one supplied to the SFR network .
Confusing code will not unlock ??
But some download will .0 -

Unfortunately the retailer is no longer in business. I have the original invoice that specifies the phone is unlocked. Samsung don't want to know, even though their 'repair' has rendered my phone useless.
Have contacted a local shop specialising in unlocking who reckon they can do it. Will take it in tomorrow hopefully. Will update."Hope for the Best

Samsung have restored the phone to it's original factory condition, in this case locked to SFR. Any post-market unlock is nothing to do with them or SFR, and can be done by a third party unlocker or by purchasing an unlock code from eBay, at your expense. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Samsung are liable to return the SAME phone in the same condition it received it, no unlock, regardless of what warranty work was done on it. The legal right is your that Samsung provide the code that SFR would have to request from them anyway (and you cant do that not being a present or past customer of SFR)
If a Chief Exec does not know end user problems in products or structure of help they cant set up a procedure or bulletin staff of procedures...
