And then there are those who do work. Should they be awarded PIP/DLA when they have sufficient money to live on?
    .

So because I work I'm not disabled enough for support. Let's break it down then shall we?

    Income
    Wages £780

    Expenditure (monthly figures)
Lift share for 2 days a week £50
Taxi (for 1 day per week when lift share doesn't work plus 1 per month for Saturday shift) £150
Personal care 8 hours a week @ £15.13 per hour £484.16 (mum works part time, OH works full time)

So I've got less than £100 left to my name from which I need to contribute to household bills, food and the mortgage. It's a good thing my OH is on a decent wage but of course disabled people aren't supposed to want independence are we?

I could always just sit in my wheelchair and not get washed, dressed, eat breakfast or get taken for my own shopping or social activities and that would reduce the care bill to nothing and I can rely on my ill mum and stressed out full time partner to do everything for me.

In fact maybe I should check into a care home and spend all day in a conservatory with the rest of the cripples so that the rest of the world can pretend we don't exist!

I wasn't referring to you in particular. It was merely a rhetorical question about people who work in general.

However, your circumstances clearly substantiate the fact that the benefit system is totally unable to cope with individual circumstances. To do so would be too time consuming and too expensive. This, unfortunately, means there will be some people who claim that do not need the money as they have no extra costs and those who claim that have costs that are not taken into account.

So we end up with a system that angers people in exactly the same way as you have indicated.

Jen your disability and illnesses warrant extra costs many don't.....
Some claimants do work and have no costs associated with their disability so should these people be paid for their disability? For some it's a type of compensation payment and not a payment that should be awarded to help them live a relatively normal life.

DLA / PIP are supposed to pay for any living/transport etc costs over and above those that a non-disabled person is forced to pay - so if you don't think that you have any more costs - then ....

I've often thought that there should be an option to claim DLA/PIP but not get any money because so many things depend on it as 'proof' of disability.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

I really wouldn't bother posting, It's quite clear most on MSE see the disabled as sub human, and having any mental health problems even more sub human,

It seems to be promoted on here to hate anyone who is not working full time and in full health,

You get the same people saying the same thing, It's like their little club to bash and bash,

I just laugh and ignore them as I'm sure some of the posters have a MH problem to post what they do.

That's a bit rude, how do you know these people aren't disabled themselves?
You contradict yourself though..... Are these disabled bashers or disabled themselves with MH issue?
