I don't think the price of second hand VW's has gone down at all. I have been monitoring the prices of 2.0 Sciroccos for a while now and they seem to be around the same price.
At 3-5 years old I'd expect the difference to be negligible, a few pounds if anything.

I have heard of a solicitor firm charging 25% if successful, is this a good rate?

    It is for the solicitor.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • OP, you have to show a tangible loss to successfully pursue a claim. What is your tangible loss? If it's for the alleged diminution of value of the sale price of your vehicle, you would have to show that the market has fallen specifically due to the scandal. Has it? Also, your loss only crystalises when you sell. Are you selling?

It may happen in America, but nobody really has any reason to make any claim against VW on this.

All this talk is about greed and about kicking VAG group in the balls while they're down.

I'm not a fan of VAG group cars, but has anyone thought about what would happen if certain big motor corporations managed to somehow engineer a situation where they could wipe out the competition?

It's got to stop, they tried it with Toyota (the worlds biggest manufacturer) and failed, now they'll go after VAG, VAG group are more than just VW, Audi and SEAT they're, Bentley, Lamborghini, Bugatti, etc etc.

Don't get involved in this for greed, because in 20 years time there might only one single car manufacturer left and cars could be double/triple the price.
