Virgin love to keep you on 3 services. I must be an internal goal.

Sometimes they will even give you the basic tv for a couple of quid if it means keeping you on 3 services.

So if you aren't interested in TV you still need to have the prices to hand as they will do all they can to put you on a tv deal.

    Don't rush and say yes.

And yes a discount will normally lock you in for 12 months

Right so I told them I didnt want tv at all and they offered me the "free tv" package unlimited calls and line rental and the 152 meg broadband for the DISCOUNT price of £57 a month but means a new 12 month contract.

However I am paying £67 right now for all the movie channels and regular sky channels on top!

So a £10 saving and a new contract, not worth it.

What can I say to get them to offer me better.

Have you actually cancelled yet? If not that's what you need to do and then wait for retentions to phone you.

Big Connection 10% increase for me, although I do get £10 off for threatening to leave.

I moved my TV earlier this year to Sky as I got 1/2 price, £115 cashback and a free LG 32" TV :)

I might give their broadband a go next as Virgin pee me off.

Just received a letter saying there would be a £4 a month price increase.
Phoned Virgin, told them to cancel my contract. They've credited my account, covering the price increase, for remainder of my contract, about 6 months.
    So give them a call just make sure you go to option 4 "changes to package or moving";
Then option 5 "thinking of leaving us" and remember to say" I want to cancel my contract".:D

I havent recieved the letter, then again my postie never attemps delivery if he cant get through the front door so often go a week without post and a large amount in one day.

Anyway I rang up just before closing time, was on and off phone in about 3 minutes, got straight through mentioned I wanted to cancel due to increase in payments, he just went "oh that will take 30 days and you will get packaging in post to return equipment, thank you for your call"

I am a little worried due to past experience when cancelling contracts early that they try and charge for the remainder.

Well they have just tried upping the package cost to £68 a month for TV, BB, phone and second tv box. Enough is enough and rang them up to complain that the broadband is slow 26mbps and the e mail system has been rubbish of late with loads of outages.

30 minutes later we cut the broadband speed package to the max limit we can receive in the house 50mbps, dropped some channels we don't watch, went for paperless billing and the bill is back down to £55 a month, so a small increase on the initial welcome package we have had for the last year.

So £156 a year saved over the next 12 months. Will we have to do the same next year, probably, this is going to be like shopping around for insurance each year.

I've just phoned and been offered half price on what I think is the big kahuna (150mb internet, xl tv and sports and extra box) for £58 a month for 9 months but locking into a new 18 month contract. Paying £84 for the same now, but don't really want to lock myself in.
