I've started peeing in a watering can for feeding the lawn, however I've got a query regarding urine and lawns. If urine is great for the lawn why have I got lots of brown patches where my dog (not !!!!!) pees? He's got excellent bladder control so often has an "Austin Powers" style wee lasting a minute or two, could this be an overdose for the lawn?

    Yes he obviously is.

Here's one of the links I found about using urine on a larger scale for fertilizer. http://www.wecf.de/cms/articles/2005/09/maize_urine.php

  • When hubby learned that men's pee was good for compost he started to sidle out of the house at night to add his offering.

Now, here's the thing.... We put our veg waste into an old dustbin and when it is full take it to the allotment. The bin is usually getting a bit whiffy by the time it goes down - but after the pee addition it began to get more so.

It was after a trip with a full - peed on - bin on a warm day that he came back in and announced that he didn't care how good peeing on it was for compost, nothing was worth being in a hot car with that smell!

Whenever he sidled out, I was always put in mind of the film 'The Likely Lads'. They were on holiday in a caravan and playing cards. Terry went out for a pee which could be heard. Terrys' girlfriend apologised to Thelma who replied...please don't apologise, it's the first time all night I've known what he's got in his hand! Ha ha

Does anyone know what to do with the yellow patches caused by our dogs peeing?
And is there anything that won't harm them (the dogs) we can do to help the problem?
    thanks

There are supplements you can give the dogs, but they don't really help. The best thing is to chuck a bucket of water over the patch ASAP after the dog has been, to dilute it down, but who's got the time for that?

The other option is to train your dogs to go in a specific area so you can at least limit the damage.
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.
