Warning EXTRA ENERGY RENEWAL DEALS

We joined Extra Energy in November 2014 on their dual fuel Fresh Fixed Price November 2015 V2 package. I wasn't best pleased when in August they informed me that on the basis of our current usage our monthly DD was going to increase from £202 to £252, however on the basis of our consumption data it did appear that we would be in deficit at the end of the contract, c'est la vie!!. However, we have now received a letter from them regarding the end of our contract and offering us alternative facilities on their Bright Fixed Price December 2016 V2 tariff. On close examination of the consumption data sheet, I discovered the following- 1) Their estimate of the cost per month on the new tariff was £178.40 (!!), a theoretical reduction of £73.60 per month. Closer examination of their estimated annual consumption figures for electricity showed they had arrived at a figure of 11383 kwh, this against the consumption of 14913 from 14.11.14 to 15.09.15 of 14913 (from meter readings) and for gas a figure of 34218 kwh, the same figure recorded for the period 25.11.14 to 15.09.15. Now this is either a blatant attempt to trick us into the belief that the new tariff will save us a massive £883.20 for the year to Dec 2016 or extremely sloppy mathematics. Either way it would seem necessary to anyone else using Extra Energy to get into the math of any new tariff calculations sent out from Extra Energy. As I have forcibly explained to Extra Energy, I might be 73 years old but as of yet, I'm not senile. I have used the 'Energy Club's' comparator and several other comparison sites and nearly all confirm the 'Energy Club's' recommendation that we switch to a first:utility iSave Fixed December 2016 v5 tariff..
