Thanks very much for further comments.

All giving me food for thought. Just wondering whether there is a similar phone to the 8500 model which might be a little more flexible?

If they go through screening the call will be passed on with Truecall/BT8500. They can also leave a message to be contacted.

Some places use automated systems though, for example hospital appointment reminders, and these won't be able to get past 'Announce' mode.

It gets straight through on my Truecall unit as it's listed as NHS Priority.

I think mine come through as 'Withheld'.

ooaagh that's a bit of a shame - blacklist but no whitelist for area code :(

I wouldn't want to whitelist an area code. I sometimes get calls to my mobile from numbers in my home area code which I know are false - simply spoofed numbers.
  • Another vote for the BT8500, some of the best money I've ever spent.

Yes, there may be one or two issues, but the positives and benefits far outway them.

There used to be days when we could get 6 or even more nuisance calls. Since buying and installing the BT8500, nothing.

They're on offer at a pretty good price at the moment:

Thanks stompa for the link. The phone definitely looks like a good price!

Still wondering whether to buy the phone or whether some genuine callers might be put off from continuing with the call.

Just wondering - the text at the link states that the phone works with BT and Virgin (with caller ID enabled). We subscribe to PlusNet for broadband and phone package. Would the phone work with PlusNet?

    Thank you

Thanks browntoa, it sounds like the phone is an excellent product, and will decide over the weekend whether to buy.

    Much appreciated.
