My grandmother didn't agree with being vegetarian, but that didn't stop her making an amazing field mushroom pie, with sliced field mushrooms and onion gravy:D
One year she added chestnuts and it was sublime.

I am a total weirdo about xmas food! I hate xmas cake, pudding etc, so thank god i'm a veggie! Love the indian buffet, with maybe ice cream n fruit! My family have given up on me food wise years ago, cos i've been veggie since I was 5! Don't even ask lol :rotfl:
I can no longer tolerate sugar so I haven't even thought about dessert yetI like your Indian buffet menu

My aunty makes this every year, except instead of making it into a roulade she uses filo and makes it into a pie
It's really lovely!
Thank you so much for posting that recipe, I had searched the BBC website looking for it believing, wrongly it was a Simon Rimmer recipe. A few years back there was a vege Christmas menu with Christmas pudding cheesecake and this roulade was the main. I thought it was all by Simon Rimmer.
Thanks again.0 -
Not sure what I'm having this year, but in past years, when I was cooking for a few, who were all having traditional roast turkey, I'd do various veggie stuffings, once of my favourites was one made with nuts, celery and orange. Everyone could eat the stuffings, and so long as I could have roast potatoes, and a load of home made bread sauce and veg, I was quite happy.
When cooking for just hubby, daughter and myself, we tended not to do the turkey dinner, as only hubby would eat the turkey, and he would prefer something else. Invariably my daughter wanted a caramelised onion and cheese tartlet/tart which I made with filo or puff pastry, so I would have that too, to save making 3 different meals.0 -
I have never ever cooked meat? I know it seems weird but I just can't do it! Can't even have it in the house!"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Try nut roast with cranberries recipe on Lakeland website. It's absolutely lovely and can be made in advance and frozen if you like.0
