  • Thanks, Fightsback, yes, I probably don't need all the speakers either. Will it be easy for me as a novice to do the set up and security stuff on my PC?

Can I sos you for help if needs be?

    Thanks

Hm!! Thanks Marleyboy, I understand that, I think. The wi fi i box picks up wirelessly from my laptop but it is connected to the speakers via a cable, presumably there will be one in the package which will fit my speakers??! I can't see a sub port anywhere on these speakers.

    Thanks again.
What are you powering your speakers from? The box plugs into the amp (the same amp your speakers plug into) ;)

Not sure I understand your question Marleyboy, my laptop will have music stored on it, sends Music wirelessly to wi Fi box which in turn is plugged in(with a cable?? ) to the back of the subwoofer, the 5 small speakers are plugged into the subwoofer.

That's my understanding of the set up but before I order the box can you see if my plan will work. Will I have the correct amount of free points in the back of the subwoofer? I can't post pics on here, I don't know why as I have 143 posts.

    Thanks

The amp is built into the sub woofer, do keep up.

  • Which of us needs to keep up? My brain is getting very hot from all this activity. Lol.

I am taking all the advice onboard but haven't plunged and bought the wi Fi box yet cos I'm scared of using debit or credit card on Amazon! I'm in the world of the dinosaurs, like to pay cash, in a shop, feel the quality of the merchandise and can march back to said shop to complain loudly if merchandise is not fit for purpose.

    Thanks folks

So sorry, but there have been no private messages in my inbox since March.

I did think it a wee bit cheeky to post on the other thread but could see you were active on that post so took a chance of that being followed up which it was.

Sorry if I'm being a pest. Ignore me if you wish but you said you have these speakers so that's why my question was specifically to you.

If you don't reply I shall take it that I have overstepped the mark and won't trouble you again.

Stop worrying these are perfectly valid questions. I'll resend the PM, if still a problem let me know.

Thanks for your input on the forum but I'm still bamboozled to some extent and wonder if you can tell me exactly which port at the back of the sub woofer the wi Fi box would go into as I don't have any "holes" left empty. After plugging in the mains, 5 speakers, a volume control and the three coloured ones that would have connected the speaker to the mainframe computer. I know these won't be used with a wi Fi box as it is wirelessly accesses via computer but I don't think I would be using any of these 3 places to connect the wi Fi box. See my dilemma. I have a good photo of the back of my box but this site won't let me post pics. I think you have these have these speakers so perhaps you could take a look and advise further.

Thanks a whole heap if you can.

    Bjb .

These speakers are designed for 5.1, you will only get 2.1 from a single 3.5 stereo jack input. So if you connect a stereo jack to the green input (recommended) you will only get the front speakers and the woofer working. You can test them with something like a mobile phone but make sure you have the mobile phone volume on very low to start with and make sure you have the creative volume control knob fader switched all the way to front.

You just need to use the green connectors only of the supplied creative 3 pin cable.

So one green end into mobile phone headphone socket and one green end into the green socket on the woofer.

Don't bother connecting the centre speaker as this will not work.

So recapping, connect only the 2 front speakers and use the green ended cable only plugging into the green socket.
