Ring 0800 956 6060 and ask them to email the "Accounts Receivable" team. They will trace the payment and send it back to you.
Thanks. This is the number I was just given by M&S so am trying it now.

They have said my bank should be able to get it back so I am on the phone to them.

Getting so fed up of this. They said do an indemnity claim but I doubt it is possible - that is for DDs.
    Told you.
    They
    Are
    Idiots
EE's CS are now almost as useless as notorious Vodafone's.

Your bank can't get it back. Only if the transfer gets bounced by EE it will get credited to your account - without your bank's intervention.

Indeed, 'indemnity claims' are for Direct Debits. They possibly meant 'Chargeback' that is possible for card payments. Nothing for bank transfers like in your case. If it doesn't bounce only EE can send the money back. If they refuse, Small Claims Court is the only way to go.

I eventually got through (after many times trying and much persistence) to someone else in the call centre who is obviously sitting near the last one, or they have discussed it as I had been extremely pushy about it. He has emailed the right dept who will chase today hopefully - they really can't see it in the account so he assumed it is because it shows a day or two later. He said the problem was not the previous operator's fault but they do seem very hit and miss - you suddenly get someone who talks sense to you and it is less frustrating. I could try calling again today when I can face it.

M&S lady told me it will be sitting somewhere and it will just take the right dept to find it - they probably won't send it unless we chase so she is trying to do this too. I am still not holding my breath. Luckily a friend gave me £40 last night which she has owed me for a concert ticket for some time.

PS he emailed the 'accounts receivable' team. When I asked to speak to them the EE guy said the previous EE guy had recommended I speak to them. I made it clear that I hadn't got that info from them but from a forum. Just to make the point that they have not been helping me at all and I've had to go elsewhere for advice.

He said he can't put me through as they don't have a line to the public or something. It is all rather Kafkaesque.

Phoned just now and they traced it - in the 'billing escalations' team. I needed to get in contact with the 9-5 people and also the payment wasn't showing until today anyway.

They have started the transfer so it should be back in my account in a few days.

    Phew! Thanks everyone.

Excuse me? I gave the solution the OP was wanting and it's now being sorted? And I work in CS?

    We're not all idiots.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

I have never said all were. The majority are - and the OP's experience clearly proves this.
Not idiots in fact. Simply incompetent and poorly trained people that know very little, but never admit this and keep giving incorrect information/advices without hesitation instead of finding a way of escalating the call to somebody more competent/knowledgeable.

More likely ended up taking to an outsourced centre on the other side of the world who only know how to deal with out of the normal issues over the weekend (and don't want to admit when they don't know). Today the UK staff trained to deal with this sort of thing were back at work and knew what to do.

To be fair it does look like the funds hadn't shown up anywhere as I made the payment on Friday evening. Such a sad life I lead. ;)
By Monday the payment showed up at EE as we were back to banking hours. Not that the first couple of people I got through to at EE were particularly helpful - true often just not trained to deal with this type of thing so gave out wrong information and sent me back to my bank when I was 99% certain this would not help.
