Should you appeal alone? (prev. Parking Cowboys are cowboys too it turns out...)

<Please note : I have amended the title of this post following discussion on this forum>

I have the evening succumbed to paying DRP £149 for an unpaid parking charge but this is not the point of the Thread so all the de-facto Mod's please hang fire on the Newbie charges

This was originally received due to a failure to display a Blue Badge when my wife and her mother went shopping. Following a good read of this forum amongst others I appealed purely from the principle of why should a legitimate BB holder be held ransom simply for a regrettable mistake. This appeal was rejected with a POPLA code received at which point I was a little lost on my next step so again whilst on this very forum I came across Parking Cowboys ..... and now the reason for the Thread.

<<Amendment from original Post :
From the Parking Cowboys website I found a link to Private Parking Appeals (PPA) and it is to this website I applied for the service they offered
>>

I was told for a nominal fee, £18, they would help support me and with the very high success rate in over-turning PCN I was sold, after all £18 is a lot better than the £100 I was now looking at. I paid up, was emailed my receipts and sat back with a sense of relief that was now in the hands of some professionals.

After one week passed with no contact from <PPA> (not Parking Cowboys as originally stated) I visited their website and emailed them politely asking for an update. Still nothing .... not even an annoying automated response which I would have been glad of as this would have at least meant my email was going somewhere.

After a further 3 weeks, still nothing .... and then .... rattle .... you guessed it my first formal demand for payment from DRP. I ignored the obvious ominous over-tones and fired off another email to <PPA> (not Parking Cowboys as originally stated), this time more professional than polite. Still nothing

I have been holding off paying whilst i awaited the outcome of the Beavis ruling which sadly led me to believe that I now had no option .... so full circle to my intro and payment was made

This experience has left me disappointed.
Disappointed at exorbitant fees for a legitimate right to park in a disabled bay.
Disappointed by the Beavis ruling.
< Original posting : But disappointed most of all in myself for falling for what seems to be a scam on of all places a Martin Lewis trusted website. >

But disappointed most of all in being let down by PPA, who I navigated to starting from MSE Newbie sticky into Parking Cowboys and beyond, when I paid for their expertise and experience to help steer me through what is a very difficult appeal process

For a lot of people £18 is a lot of money however I guess for some it's all in a days work

Thanks for nothing <PPA> (not Parking Cowboys as originally stated) :T:T:T:T:T

    1. What have Parking Cowboys got to do with this site?
    2. Did you not appeal on the basis that the PPC had no legal standing on the land? This currently wins at POPLA pretty much every time.
    3. Why on Earth did you pay the Debt Collector?
    Je Suis Cecil.
  • did you receive court papers from the PPC, or just pay up after receiving nasty red lettered "bog roll" from DR+?

PS , who was the parking Co?

any money was paid to PPA , not Parking Cowboys

DRP should have been completely and utterly ignored, there was no compulsion at all to pay DRP, any choice to do so was voluntary

neither PPA not Parking Cowboys are affiliated to the MSE site

Following a good read of this forum

You cannot have read the forum very well as every post tells you that you do not need to pay these parking scammers.

What has Parking Cowboys got to do with Martin Lewis's website? (Hint... The answer is nothing!)

You could have got free advice from this forum had you bothered to read it (you obviously haven't as you paid a scummy debt collector), and to use your first post to berate this website is frankly laughable!
Either that or you are a PPC plant!

    !!!!!! is Parking Cowboys anyway?

I'm assuming its a PPI company for parking tickets - ie: totally pointless and easier to deal with yourself.

CENSTE if you read the Parking cowboys site properly, you would see that it their partners PPA who handle appeals and your communication should have been with them. Maybe that is why you didn't get any reply.

However I am surprised that you received no communication en route from them and I hope one of them will respond on here.

It may be that your appeal was held up in the POPLA backlog awaiting the BEAVIS result. Look for the FREE THE 4000 thread on here for further info.

I think you jumped the gun in paying but you have every right to post your experience. However, please tell us why it is MSE fault.

No. It's a helping website similar to this forum. Parking cowboys don't do the £18 rip off the OP has encountered

If you want to pay a company to do the work for you (or seemingly not do the work for you) then the directors of the company that you go to via that website to do have very close associations with this forum!!! (Though they seem to have closed to new business)
