How much data does installing iOS 9 on iPhone use?

Having just watched a programme about scams and identity theft, which ended with the viewer being advised always to keep our phone software updated, I have just installed iOS 9 on my iPhone 6. I've been putting it off as I didn't see the need, but the programme has made me aware that it's risky not to.
However I only have 10GB a month home wifi (with BT), and I can't seem to find out how much of it the download has used. I have a second iPhone (5s) but don't want to run that one as well, in case it leaves me short of wifi allowance for the rest of the month.
I can find out tomorrow, when the Usage monitor updates, but I'm going to be away over the weekend so if I do it tonight so much the better.
So, does anyone know how much of my 10GB allowance each download of iOS 9 requires?

Thanks for the swift reply.
I've found a BT Wifi app in the App Store, but it has poor reviews, and it's all a bit beyond me
. However I will give it a go. So that would mean I don't have to connect through my home router then?
I've never used BT hotspots as I don't know how it works. When you use free wifi in a hotel they give you a code to connect to it, but I'm not sure how the BT system would recognise the user. And goodness knows what my BT password is
.
Alternatively, I have 4GB tethering allowance on both my phones (I'm with 3) , so could I use one of them and connect via wifi in order to update the other? Sorry I'm pretty non-techie with this sort of thing.

Login to the app with your BT email user/password.

Login at home to the BT Wifi that transmits from your own BT homehub its unlimited but slower than your private signal. You can check the status if your home hub is opted in or out of BT WiFi

It's around 1GB, give or take a hundred megabytes or so depending on which model of phone you are using.0

About 1.3GB for an iPhone 5. The patch to 9.1 was something like 115MB IIRC.Roland_Sausage wrote: »It's around 1GB, give or take a hundred megabytes or so depending on which model of phone you are using.0 -
That's great, thanks all. I'll do the other phone (5s) next week then.
I'll try to get the hang of the BT hot spots too! Don't really need it for the iPhones when out and about as I'm on unlimited data, but if it saves my BT allowance when upgrading iOS or syncing iCloud then it will be useful.
Also I suppose I might be in a 3 no signal area but able to connect to BT - that's probably a bit optimistic though!

If you're on an unlimited data plan and you're worried about using up your BT wifi allowance....switch wifi off on your phone and update over the network. Is this not the simplest solution? (Assuming that your unlimited is truly unlimited of course!)0

It's my phone that's on unlimited, my BT router is on 10GB. Presumably I can't use my phone's wifi to download the iOS? I haven't actually tried btw, will feel stupid if that's how it is meant to be done.

If anyone read my first reply on the previous post before I completely deleted it, please ignore as I had misunderstood the suggestion given.
And editing again. Of course the phone doesn't have built-in wifi, doh ~slaps forehead~.

Your unlimited 3 plan will have a tethered usage aswell as unlimited mobile use, call 3 and ask your tethering amount or check in my3, you can use your tethered allowance as a wifi hotspot or use the cable like a regular modem to your pc and download the iOS update via itunes.
