There should not be any problem sorting and dividing clothing even if somehow mixed up, as female clothing presumably belongs to the tenant , and male clothing to the lodger... The LL appears to be doing everything he/she can to assist the lodger, without putting themself in a difficult position re duty of care to their ex-tenant's belongings. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Sounds fair. The LL is already massively out of pocket, so you need to foot any costs and claim them from the person you rented the room from.
An expensive mistake, but when renting a room, it is generally a good idea to find out if the person you are renting from is either the owner or has permission for a lodger!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Just been reading through the thread, an interesting but awkward situation to be in, clearly.
At least the landlord is being cooperative towards you, and i think you're going to have to swallow the costs involved with getting your stuff back.0
