Ex not paying rent in joint tenancy

It's not the only steps you can make. You can speak to the LA/LL and see if you can terminate the contract early, although I have no doubt that you will choose to ignore that possibility again.sharp910sh wrote: »It seems the only steps I can make. Are to pay half the rent and see if the landlord chases her. Or pay her renr and chase her for the rent.
When you go to court, she is going to say "Dear Mr. Judge, I spoke to the LA about terminating the contract. They said it could be possible but would need Sharp's consent. He is refusing to even speak about it and forcing me into financial hardship."
This is not going to look good on you.
To be honest, you seem to be completely ignoring everyone's advice and are determined to continue on what is coming across as a very vindictive and bitter path.0 -
Alternatively the OP could disappear and provide his Ex's address to the LL...0

You forget/ignored the fact the you and your Ex are both liabile for all the rent. The Landlord will be chasing you for all the rent, not for "her half" that is between you and your Ex.
You may as well stop paying the rent altogether and wait to be evicted for breach of contract. I would find somewhere else to live first that doesnt require a reference though.0 -

Would be evicted for rent arrears, not breach of contract.
And yes that's why the OP is chasing his ex, because it's between them.
He shouldn't have to pay the rent for both of them0 -

The seperate agreement between the OP and the Ex is nothing to do with the Landlord.
I wouldnt bother tbh, guest101 cant get their head round the concept.0 -

You've misinterpreted what I've said.
Yes the LL should be paid the full rent.
No the OP shouldn't be solely liable for the rent, and should pursue the ex for what is his and her share as part of their agreement.0
