It is highly improbable that the suspect transaction was from an ATM unless the ATM in question dispenses coins .......
And as to your bank actually calling you within 10 minutes ..... my bank hasn't called me regarding anything since the 1990's .... the only reason the ever call these days is to try to sell me something.

My bank hasn't called me in years either. They don't have my number now. In any case, a good policy is to reject all incoming calls from financial institutions.
  • I live in north Texas, USA and received an email from my credit card co. at 6:04 a.m., Nov. 3, that I had 5 declined purchases on my credit card - one of them was to MARRAKECHINN for $8.46. The other purchase attempts ranged up to $495.00. (One attempt was to an online dating service and my husband and I have been married for 50 years.) Someone needs to investigate this organization, as Marrakechinn was the only one in the list of 5 businesses that apparently wasn't legitimate.
  • Oh my word why am I being questioned? I'm the victim here. My card was supposedly used in person in American. My bank refused the transaction (on my main account) then phoned me to ask if it was me and to verify a couple of other transactions. This was just after midday on Saturday. As the call was incoming I phoned them back from another number and spoke to the fraud department. They obviously have good security in place and for some reason this transaction was suspicious enough for my bank to refuse to authorise it and contact me. Amount is irrelevant.
They started as a phone only bank and you can phone them 24/7 even if its just for a balance.
Does anyone else want to interrogate me or accuse me of making false statements? I'm so sorry some of you don't bank with a company that cares for its customers.
Now back to my original question...

The logic of this is obvious. The transaction attempted was for £2.08. If you know of an ATM which can be used to withdraw £2.08 please tell me its location. I want to use it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Sorry you to were a victim of fraud. It struck me as odd that such an obscure name was used and I was curious to see if anyone recognised it so I can try and work out for sure where I got cloned.

You are twisting everything. Read it properly. I think I was cloned at an atm.

  • I am very glad that my credit card company has both my phone number and email address because they have contacted me twice in the last two years to tell me that someone was apparently in the process of trying to (unsuccessfully) make multiple internet purchases (one after the other) using my card - they were going to allow the purchases only if I said they were mine, which they definitely were not.

I think you can guess I made a typo. :T

I don't guess, I ask; good advice I received many years ago.

Sorry to hear your card was compromised and thank you for confirming (some) banks do contact customers when there is suspicious activity.

OK, we've not had that availability in our area for years.

Benefit claimants held protests about this and some banks started to issue £5.00 dispensing again. :D
