Supermarket Kettles

So far I've had 8 years from a £3 toaster and 4 from a £7 kettle. Guess it's also a luck of the draw thing...0

The Asda GPK201 (£10, give or take) range has been a Which Best Buy for a while so, if it's still available, might be worth a try.
And I agree, there's little to go wrong with a gas hob kettle and they're very cheap.0 -
I don't see the point of buying a £100 kettle which will blow in 3 years when I can have 2 cheap kettles, have double the capacity for those loads of friends moments and replace it when one blows. The man without a signature.0

Maybe they've left the kettle empty, instead of refilling it.
The kettle Gods don't like being thirsty.0 -

I definitely have not boiled it empty0 -
Thank you - I will - but why I ask is this is not the only case of this happening it has happened several times before with previous kettles and about the same time too
Chinese proverb. Be kind to your kettle and it will reward you plenty long time0 -

The thing is pretty much all kettles in the in the low-mid range use essentially the same cheap mechanism; a couple of bi metallic strips (as a thermostat), a heating element and a switch. There's not really much to go wrong.
Kinda sounds like the bi metallic strip on the ones just buy is a bit dodgy, although to happen multiple times it sounds like the Kettle God.
My parts always buy the cheapest kettle and it lasts till the plastic cracks (5+ yrs per kettle).0 -
