Cheapest international minutes plan (using phone abroad and calling from uk)

I can't see why Vectone has been recommended here. It's more expensive than Truphone or other recommendations on thread.
Roaming rates are 4 p/min incoming 18 p outgoing in Europe. A while ago they increased their so-called smart roaming rates within Europe so there's no longer any saving over standard roaming.
Call bundles bought for use from UK do not apply while roaming, unless using Vectone app via a separate data connection.
If separate data is available use any VoIP provider with cheaper rates.
Toggle Mobile incoming free outgoing from 3p
Or use third party callback with rates from a penny a minute, provided you have ported a standard prefix main network number to any non main network prefixed one such as Toggle or Truphone or Vectone (some providers charge more for calls to these).0 -
All that said, I wouldn't discount Vectone completely. The free calls to other Vectone including from the other countries where they operate could be useful when pre-arranged so people frequently calling each other get some, and of course if you buy a local one while abroad it will have cheap int'l calls.
I was going to suggest it as an option for visiting Finland or Sweden a year or two ago, but Three Like Home became another option there. And I just discovered that Vectone Finland closed down a couple of months ago.
Lycamobile also seem to have these free calls to their local Lyca networks in other countries, but it might sometimes be conditional on the last top up.0 -

Using the Vectone app via wifi or a local data sim with Windows, Android or iOS devices eliminates roaming charges, thus you can call UK unlimited at £10 on payg, Europe, US & Canada on a 30 day contract.
Includes call back and roaming, its the most flexible offer out there. And with apps you are never without signal using wifi something others dont offer aswell as roaming and smart roaming, 3 choices to get connected. Sure Toggle is 3p a minute but that soon mounts up, 300 mins is near £10 which could be unlimited via Vectone just for UK calls.
I took the view of international accessibility and roaming options, high use to several countries and home to the UK over low per minute rates. Thus Vectone has no competition with its Euro inclusive plans compared to Truphone at £160
Thus the countries mentioned will be included with Vectone app with a local sim with data (and local incoming or over wifi from the 3 big OS'es) as
Vectone Europe Mobile and Landline:
Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden.
Example is roaming in Spain calling Spain
Roaming 18p out, 5p text, 4p incoming calls.

Vectone app over wifi/data included in Euro supreme £20 per month.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -

I cant use Wifi most of the time sadly as moving about allot or in countryside.
These rates, the roaming is calling out / per / minute?
Sorry im not up to date with this roaming stuff, normally its best to keep it off for me and use the price/per minute ratio calling / texting out.
Still not got through to them, and don't know the rates for calling out of spain/italy. But if its 18p/minute for example, that's not cheap.0
