Cheapest international minutes plan (using phone abroad and calling from uk)

Hello,

When Im in the UK I use giffgaff to call abroad, 2/3p a minute to USA and 7p to Italy, for example. But its 16p a minute with them or more when using them abroad, and it cost to receive calls.

So ive been using "truphone" while im in Spain I can call/text anyone in Spain and to the UK for 6p a minute, I found this the cheapest deal. But If I phone Italy from Spain it cost 15p a minute.

I spend allot of time traveling and have to use the phone daily. And In October on the truphone sim I spent £160 on calling credit in a single month while being in Spain, despite the calls ranging from 6p to 15p a minute, which I find cheap if abroad. But spending £160 a month on calling is allot and adds up over the year.

Im just wondering, if im able to set something up cheaper with a sim company, where I pay monthly and get unlimited international calling credit, while im abroad in countries such as Spain, France and Italy, or if there is something cheaper. Because in the long term the money Im spending currently is going to take a nasty hit on my finances through the year.

You could take a look at https://www.togglemobile.com - calls to and between several markets for 3p/minute to landline numbers and 3p-9p/minute to mobile numbers, using the local number facility.

Registering local numbers also gives you the opportunity of a permanent local number for £5 p.a.. I have permanent US and Swiss numbers.

Some don't like the minimum £20 top-up, but this is unlikely to be a problem for you.

If you are call UK number in spain/ italy/ france.
Check out three feel at home.
Get yourself a PAYG card and buy a bundle.

However, if you are in spain/ italy/ france and calling your local number, you would need alternative.

Feel at Home is useless for calling, say, from Spain to Spain or from Spain to Italy - as the OP wanted.
However, if their prefixes work on Feel at Home, this can be a really good option for calling landlines in some EU countries:

• Save on PAYG international calls.

It's an idea, but has an anyone actually tried it?

If it didn't work another option would be still have a bundle with Three and make the calls to other countries via a third party access number in UK.

The same would apply to using any other SIM, such as Truphone or Toggle. For instance Toggle to some European mobiles is 9 pence a minute, but going via a UK landline could be from about 4p aggregate

Better still can be using third party callback, exploiting free incoming calls and paying the callback provider's twinned call rates for from even as little as a penny a minute.

This looks promising. Was just looking at the European Surpeme for £20/Month.

• Unlimited UK calls
• Unlimited UK texts
• Unlimited DATA
• Unlimited Europe Mobiles and landline calls
• Unlimited Calls to USA and Canada

Just wondering their rates when calling from abroad, not the UK, cause not sure if the unlimited usage is included when calling outside the UK, any ideas? Will give them a call in the next few days if cannot find any more detailed info.

I've tried calling vectone from spain, but one of the numbers is busy 24/7 and the other won't work.

I sent them a message via their website the same date as my last post but they have not even responded to that yet, pretty slack getting hold of them and waiting for a response so far.
