If you refund do it correctly as otherwise you will get another defect.
The way I have done it (and I'm sure there are other ways) is to mark the payment as not received, Done then you can cancel the transaction - Where is this ? using 'issues with buyer address' option - Dont see this either and that opens a box that says do you want to refund- click yes and it is all done automatically.

I suggest you read the postage sticky - tracking means either Royal Mail special delivery or a good courier which is hardly feasible for most post. Next Problem/Query - I rang ebay and they advised that as long as it was within 30 days I could ask buyer to cancel transaction, and the defect would be removed, so is it possible to cancel a transaction and not refund any money as I have already done that. (I found a mark on the item, so sent the item anyway, but refunded their money). It's never straightforward - is it? Can anyone advise how many days to wait is acceptable?Assuming it is not tracked , apologise and ask them to wait a few more days and then let you know if it still hasn't arrived. Then if item still hasn't arrived you will need to refund.

What postal service did you use? Have you confirmed the address with the buyer?0 -
As above it depends on what method. If you have tracking and can see it is still going then you need to upload tracking (if you haven't already) and apologise and advise it is still coming. If you have no tracking then you need to ask them to open a case for not received. Without any tracking you will lose a case so you just need to refund.0

I've not confirmed the address as I used the address which was within Paypal.

You can ask but if they open a case then you need to deal with by the date the case states. Why not apologise for the delay and ask them to open a case if it doesn't arrive by Friday? If they know their rights then they will know Tuesday is probably the earliest they can open a case.0 -
