Debit card fraud

Sorry to be a pain about this, but does this sound as if it is resolved? I have lost confidence as no-one in Amazon customer services has understood I word I've said.I have well received your message and i am sorry to hear that Someone has accessed your account details, used amazon.fr to order a mobile phone.
I understand completely your reaction and I forwarded the incident to the department in charge of the transportation so it helps to make our services more in line with your expectations.
I have submitted a claim on your behalf for (order 171-xxx). I will now validate the claim. Your credit card will be reimbursed directly for 526.20 euros, the total order cost including shipping fees upon a positive validation.
Claims generally take from 1-2 weeks to process; you'll receive an e-mail notification when it is complete. Please note that if a seller has already made a refund, or if you have initiated a chargeback to your credit card, reimbursement will not be possible.
Should your order finally arrive, please contact us, even if reimbursement has already been made. It's important to make sure that the issue is correctly accounted for in our system. You can contact us at the following address:0 -

It certainly sounds like they have now understood the issue and have made a refund to your card - I assume the amount is correct. The last two paragraphs are them covering themselves in case to money comes back to you some other way, or the goods turn up - it's probably just standard phrasing that won't apply in your case.0 -

That's what I'm not sure about. I suppose it depends what 'I will now validate the claim' means as I think it is lost in translation a little. Annoying that they haven't cancelled the DHL deivery - it is sitting in Belfast waiting to be delivered on Monday.
Bit shocked by TSB as they didn't look at any ID before allowing me to withdraw cash - all I needed was my cancelled card. The cashier knew it was cancelled due to fraud so it seemed a bit lax to allow withdrawals using it.0 -
I initially read "I will now validate your claim" as it would be done immediately, and it would then take 1 - 2 weeks for the refund to make it's way back to your account. However I missed "upon a positive validation" first time so it could indeed be read as starting the process to ensure your claim is valid and you'll hear whether they accept it in 1 - 2 weeks, at which point the refund will be made. Either way let's hope that the money does make it back to you.
I think TSB may have allowed your withdrawal with just the cancelled card because the fraud was marked as a card not present one rather than a card stolen or cloned. It might still have been a good idea from their perspective to have asked for additional ID though.0 -
Sorry Beecher2, I must have missed the bit where you corrected your first post and post 10 where you mention your 'debit card', to the consideration of your 'credit card', which Amazon intend to reimburse, according to their message in post 12 above.
I just wondered if there's any difference between reimbursing debit cards rather than credit cards which might complicate matters further (anything to do with 'section 75' or would that only apply to a refund for goods ordered by you but not received by you personally?) - I daresay I'm just muddying waters here. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. It puzzled me a bit too but I think the simplest explanation is that it's a mistake by Amazon and they should have said debit rather than credit - the fact that the OP used the card to get money from his account over the counter in a branch makes it much more likely that it is a debit card.0 -
Yeah, it is a debit card - my amazon account was blocked yesterday and I phoned again to check that my password hadn't been changed by someone else. Got someone from Scotland who understood me which helped a great deal. He said payment would definitely go through and I wasn't to worry about it. Meanwhile the seller in Milan is going to try to get DHL to cancel delivery. Not sure if I'll get further emails from him until my account is unblocked.
Now just have the joy of a visit from Police Scotland later.
You're probably all bored to death with this saga, but I will update you when I get my money refunded, be it from Amazon or TSB0 -
I hope it's all sorted quickly.
I had my email account hacked where they found an email from ebay addressed to my username. The hacker applied under Forgotten Password? For a new one sent to their email account. They ordered an iphone and charger. Fortunately for me, we had just returned from holiday and I had not paid my cc bill so the iphone order was rejected but the charger came in the post, that's how I found out about the whole scam. I assume someone was watching the house to intercept the postman. All too easy.0
