You will need to speak to some van hire companies to get prices as a lot wont touch courier work, i suggest speaking to someone like northgate and get some prices but make sure that they know you are working as a courier.
Unless its a tiny van 15p/mile wont cover the fuel costs if its local deliveries, long distance/ single drop maybe if you are lucky and dont buy ate motorway prices0 -
what is the risk exactly? because I see ABSOLUTELY none
unless you mean to lose a week's van hire? like £150?
If they hire the van and don't get any work, they have to pay for the van lease / payments.
If you hire the van and don't get any work, YOU have to pay for the van lease / payments.
All the risks are on you. They can decide to drop you with a days notice without any financial penalty, but if they do that you're likely to be stuck paying up a van that isn't earning you any more.
As said; it'd be much cheaper for them to hire a fleet of vans for you guys to use. The only reason they don't is presumably because they can drop you without risk, and you are responsible for all of the finances.0 -

Will you be self employed, therefore responsible for paying your own tax and national insurance out of that 'salary'.0

I didn't deny that. But someone told me that I need to form a company etc, which is ridiculous.
Your written English has improved dramatically since you started arguing with people. Maybe we should use this in schools. Or, maybe you're not who you appear to be as already implied... Who knows?0 -
they are paying 15p per mile PLUS the salary
the job is courier, delivering parcels
Like Herzlos says again - buy a cheap van and test the waters first - or maybe a cheap people carrier you can remove the seats from when working and put back for weekend use as a car.I need to think of something new here...0 -
Hello! I am offered a job that will pay me to do the van driver, but they don't provide van, I have to buy or hire one. How much the insurance costs approx? Also, is it okay to ditch my regular car and use only the van?
The van will cost you £7500.00 to buy or to lease will be £127.65 per month over 150 months and insurance will £1437.29 per year on a owned van. Ditch the car and turn the van into a love machine with foldable bed in the back and go and seek some new partners.0 -

How much is the salary? 15p/mile won't even cover your fuel unless it's all on motorways and you take your time. My 1.5 diesel clio costs about 15p/mile in fuel, and it'd fit in most vans. Then you've got tyres (about 2p/mile if you get 30,000 miles out of them and they cost £100 each to replace), servicing, wear and tear, insurance and so on.
The government rate for fuel for company *cars* is 45p/mile, to cover running costs. Your van will cost more than that.
Now, if the salary is great, and the work is guaranteed, you might still do alright, but it sounds like you'll be doing a lot of work just to break even here.
Also, how is the mileage calculated? Is it the actual odometer readings across a shift, or is it calculated based on your destination? Do you get reimbursed for re-deliveries or detours or traffic?
What are you actually transporting? Will they let you use a car?0 -
15p per mile? So you will be supplementing the running costs with your wages then?
If it costs less than 70p per mile then your onto a winner. Do you want to be spending 55p of your own money on running costs?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
